"David Route, Williamsburg Home Improvements failed to complete most of the tasks he was hired to perform. Refinishing my hardwood floors prior to my scheduled move in date was one of them. I was so upset that I felt my only option was to put LVF over my hardwood oak floors. The gentleman that came to my home asked why I would ever want to cover my beautiful oak floors. He told me how beautiful they would look after being refinished and that he felt he could help me find someone that could do it on my timeline. Tile—specifically smaller, mosaic-style tiles—is the best type of flooring for building a walk-in shower base. Shower pans come with a threshold and sidewalls to contain the water, but tile can be set into the shower base. This creates a walk-in shower floor that gently slopes toward the drain to keep water from getting out and into the rest of the bathroom.

Using too much soap or floor cleaner can leave your laminate floors looking dirty or cloudy after mopping. Only use a teaspoon of soap or cleaning solution in a gallon of water. Additionally, always be sure to sweep or vacuum laminate floors before mopping to ensure you pick up dried grit, hair, and dust that can be harder to catch with a wet mop.

A laminate floor will lift if it hasn’t been installed with the proper expansion gaps around the room’s perimeter. Laminate flooring naturally expands and contracts when indoor temperatures fluctuate, and without adequate room for expansion, the planks can lift off the subfloor. To avoid this, ensure your flooring installer knows to leave the proper expansion gaps.
