"I hired Nicky and N.A. because they were two women who built a prosperous business in a predominately manâ  s world. Iâ  m so pleased that I did. They built my deck with precision and most importantly Love. They worked steadily and thoroughly and consistency. My deck is absolutely beautiful and sturdy. They built the deck with so many personal touches. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"Everything went perfectly. They arrived on time. Took down blinds and draperies, laid down tarps, moved furniture and bookcases, spackled, puttied, sanded, painted, and put everything back in place before they left each evening for 3 days. They did such a good job, I got them to paint and repair the front porch before they left."

"Bryan Davis did an amazing job on our deck. He ripped out our old deck and installed our completely new Trex deck all within 3 days. He was easy to work with and walked us through the entire process. Great service for an amazingly low price. I highly recommend them!"

"Contrary to initial plans as discussed with Power Clean Pros owner, Paul, he attempted to power wash the deck and apply the coating the same day, even though it was raining.  The coating did not dry properly or adhere to the deck.  Paul agreed to re-apply the coating at a later date, which he did.

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Expect to spend around $10,000 to $11,000 to replace a 20-by-20-foot deck. Using high-end materials like composite or exotic hardwoods can drive up the cost, as can custom features and design elements. You can also expect to pay more than average if your deck replacement requires a site evaluation or if you need the work done during the busy season.

Yes, Ipe is more expensive than Trex decking—both in terms of materials and installation (plus, Ipe trees are endangered). On average, Ipe decking costs $10 to $25 per square foot, while Trex decking costs $5 to $12 per square foot. Because Ipe is harder to work with, the price of installation is higher, too. For Ipe decking, you’ll pay between $20 and $45 per square foot for labor. However, with Trex decking, the labor costs range from $8 to $22 per square foot.

Wood decks need to be replaced every 10 to 15 years on average. Natural wood is highly vulnerable to infiltration and damage from moisture, which can occur rapidly due to exposure to outdoor elements. You can protect your deck and maximize its lifespan by sealing it every year or two.

You typically don’t need a railing and handrails on a deck that’s less than 30 inches from the ground. However, consider adding them regardless. Railings provide additional safety for you and your guests who use your deck—plus, railings give the deck a more finished look than it would have without them.

You can add a roof to most decks, but you need to have it inspected first. If your deck didn’t come with a roof initially, it may not be able to handle the weight without some structural changes. You can add additional supports to your existing deck to safely add a roof, and tying your deck’s roof to an exterior wall can help add some structural stability, but remember these aren’t DIY projects and need to be left to a pro.
