"Vanguard Roofing was our 2nd choice, so there was no work done. The issue was on our end, not Vanguards, as to why we chose someone else. I would have no problem recommending them to others, which I already have done. They were very helpful in understanding and explaining how a high wind-resistance roof is installed. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because Vanguard did not install the roof."

"Terry who is the owner and his crew did an amazing job on my roof. He made my house look as new again. He communicated with me from the time I signed the contract and through the end of project. After I signed the contract his crew was installing my roof the next week. His crew did a good and thorough job cleaning up. He gave me an amazing product at a fair price Thank you Terry and crew. "I had one shingle that had a crack in it. David Reed recommanded caulking the crack with asphalt caulk which he went ahead and did. David evaluated the current shingles and said they were 20 year shingles and I had about five years of use left. The shingles had some hail damage but all in all the shingles were okay. Outstanding customer service, David came on time, repaired the shingle and evaluated the rest of the shingled roof. Provided ball park estimate on replacing the entire shingled roof."

"Great work. Was able to get me scheduled within 48hrs of him coming by to inspect the roof. Work was done to our satisfaction. Repair was needed in several places on the roof and as new homeowners we just wanted repair that would be done right without any price gauging. Very reasonable in pricing. Will contact them again when we decide to replace the entire roof."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Your homeowners insurance premium may increase if you file a roof claim. Whether your rate goes up, and by how much, depends on several factors. These include your insurance company's policies, your personal claim history, the size of the current claim, and the type of damage. While a single claim after a long period without any may not trigger an increase, frequent claims are more likely to raise your premium. Additionally, insurers might increase rates at renewal due to external factors like changing weather patterns, which are beyond your control.

You should definitely be wary of roofing contractors who offer significantly lower prices than their competitors. Most roofers in the area are all dealing with the same cost of materials, and labor costs are often comparable, too. If they’re significantly cheaper than other companies around, it could be a scam. Read reviews and ask other roofing companies and contractors if they’ve heard of the suspected scamming company.

There are several pros and cons of flat roofs. One disadvantage of flat roofs is that you lose potential attic space because it's flat. Flat roofs tend to pool water and because they lack an angle, any leak in the roof—usually due to a bad seal—has the potential to let in a lot of water. They don’t work well in climates with snow. Flat roofs are also structurally weaker than sloped roofs.

Most roof leaks occur where shingles meet or where there are sealants or seams in the materials. This is common around skylights and at any point there is a break in the roof such as corners and edges. Roofing materials are incredibly strong and resistant when overlapping, but any change in that can cause gaps where water can enter.

No, a metal roof will not make your house hot. In fact, metal roofs help keep your home cooler by reflecting heat instead of absorbing and transmitting it inside. Metal also has high thermal conductivity, which means it gains and loses heat quickly. While the sun may heat the metal, the roof rapidly transfers that heat back into the air rather than retaining it. This reflective property can lead to energy cost savings of up to 40%, as your cooling system won't need to work as hard to maintain a consistent indoor temperature.
