"I certainly would refer this company to work/install a new roof. I once was able to do the work myself, did my previous residence twice, that was 2200 sq ft and took me 3 weeks to do. that is to strip, lay felt and ice and water barrier. now that i am bordering 70, I cant do what i did when i was 50, with that being said, here in VA, we here have difficulty getting 3 days without rain let alone 3 weeks. Cenvar sent 3 young guys to strip, put down ice and water barrier, synthetic felt and new architectural asphalt shingles. they did locate 3 leaks, i know of one which resulted from what was done 25 years ago, then the roof was not installed correctly, every other course seam lined up, which is not the way a roof is installed. Cenvar fixed and installed the new roof correctly. They did lay tarps around to collect all the old shingles and nails. after they left, if you didn't acknowledge the new roof, you would not have known anyone was there, all done in 1 day!!!"

"Mr. Townsley was professional and very knowledgeable. He was straight forward when providing the repair options when accessing the work that needed to be done for my roof. Above all he was reliable. He called when he said he would and he showed up ready to work. I wouldn't have any problem recommending him."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

In Fredericksburg, you can address minor roofing issues like clearing leaves from gutters, gently securing a loose shingle, or trimming back tree limbs that touch the roof. Always work on dry days and use sturdy, slip-resistant shoes. Avoid climbing steep roofs or handling repairs near electrical lines. If you notice signs of water intrusion or structural concerns, contact a local roofing professional for a safe, thorough assessment.

Helpful?

After a roofing project in Fredericksburg, schedule a final inspection to confirm all work meets local building codes, especially if your home is in a historic district. Take clear photos of the finished roof and check that all required permits are officially closed. Remove any leftover debris from gutters and landscaping, store your warranty documents safely, and set reminders for annual roof inspections to address Fredericksburg’s seasonal storms and humidity.

Helpful?

For Fredericksburg homes, architectural asphalt shingles are popular due to their resilience against humid summers and occasional hail. Metal roofing is also favored for its longevity and ability to reflect heat, which helps with energy efficiency. In historic neighborhoods, synthetic slate or wood shakes may be appropriate. Always use high-quality underlayment, ice and water shield, and corrosion-resistant flashing to meet Virginia’s wind and weather standards.

Helpful?

In Fredericksburg, homes with steep pitches, multiple dormers, or historic architectural details often require extra planning for roofing projects. Watch for signs like sagging rafters, intricate rooflines, or limited driveway access, which can complicate material delivery. If your house predates 1980 or has undergone previous renovations, a structural review is wise to address any hidden issues before starting roof work.

Helpful?

In Fredericksburg, missing or curled shingles, shingle granules in gutters, or water stains on upper ceilings often signal roofing concerns. Leaks after heavy rain or visible daylight in the attic also point to roof issues. If you notice persistent moisture in lower levels or near plumbing, the cause may be unrelated to the roof. For ongoing or unclear problems, document symptoms and consult a local expert for accurate diagnosis.
