Small jobs welcome

"Billy gave me an estimate and brochures of all the extras I might want to ensure a very quality roof that will hold up in storms. No high-pressure sales whatsoever. Their estimate was fair and reasonable. I look forward to hiring this company in a few months. It is very refreshingly as a homeowner to find honest pros."

"Great work. Was able to get me scheduled within 48hrs of him coming by to inspect the roof. Work was done to our satisfaction. Repair was needed in several places on the roof and as new homeowners we just wanted repair that would be done right without any price gauging. Very reasonable in pricing. Will contact them again when we decide to replace the entire roof."

"They showed up as expected and did a great job on the repair, which we needed done quickly. We also had scheduled a quote for the whole roof to be done while they were doing the repair. They contacted us a day or two later with a number we liked and a day or two later they were there doing a complete tear-off and re-roof. These guys did a fantastic job and were finished in one day and our yard never looked like anyone was there. George, you run a great business and your customer service is excellent. Thank you, we are very, very pleased and would recommend you to anyone!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a torch down roof depends on the number of layers installed. A single-ply system typically lasts between 10 and 15 years, while a multi-layer system with two or three layers can last from 15 to 25 years. Although a multi-layer option may be more expensive upfront, it provides a longer service life. Warranties often reflect this, with about 12 years for a one-ply system and 15 years for a two-ply system. For context, this lifespan is shorter than other common roofing materials like wood or asphalt shingles, which typically last 20 to 30 years, with high-quality versions lasting up to 50 years.

A solar roof can replace an existing roof. Solar panels fit on top of traditional roofs. In contrast, solar roofs that contain photovoltaic (PV) materials, like solar shingles and solar tiles, are standalone roofing systems installed as a main roof. In some cases, installers can place them on existing roofs and as part of new construction. Carefully assess and choose the right type of solar roof replacement for your home and needs.

Metal roofs have a reputation for being noisy, but with proper installation and adequate insulation, they are not significantly noisier than shingle roofs. The type of metal used can affect the sound level; for instance, steel roofs are typically noisier than slate or asphalt tiles but quieter than aluminum. While some people find the sound of rain on a metal roof pleasant, you can take steps to reduce the noise. Installing a thicker underlayment, adding insulation between the roof and the house, or using acoustic tiles can effectively muffle the sound. The gauge (thickness) of the metal roofing can also contribute to sound dampening.

Though roof coatings can last up to two decades, it’s a good idea to recoat your roof every four to six years. This is especially important if you have a built-up roof, which is vulnerable to moisture issues. Inspect your built-up roofs annually to make sure they don’t need a new coat.

While a few icicles on your roof are standard, a large accumulation can be a sign of a bigger problem, such as poor insulation. This is particularly true if you are also dealing with ice dams. If you have numerous large icicles, it is recommended to have a roofing contractor diagnose potential insulation issues and create a plan to solve them.
