"The team arrived slightly early to be well prepared to start the job on time. As they began they laid down protective barriers to keep the home clean. While in the attic they blew in the insulation with an even consistent barrier, ensuring that all locations with infrastructure were well covered. As they wrapped up the job, they cleaned behind them as they closed up the attic, removed the floor coverings and were on their way. The only way I can tell they were here is that the heat runs less in the winter and the air conditioning runs less in the summer. "I called Evergreen Electric and setup an appointment for the next day to perform what I figured would be a couple small jobs and to receive an estimate to run cable into new rooms. The original appointment was delayed because of a power outage on another job, but speaking to Josh on the phone, he was willing to come by as soon as he was finished even though it would have been well into the evening. I told him the following day would work fine and we rescheduled the appointment. Josh arrived the next day and examined our situation. Our house is nearly 40 years old and it turns out the problems were much deeper than I thought. Josh crawled into the attic and rewired the junction boxes that were not just loose but had previously been wired incorrectly. He also spent well over an hour attempting to diagnose why our breaker was tripping without much of a load on it. He was very thorough in his troubleshooting. He replaced the breaker with a higher amp version and the problem is fixed, but he also indicated there is likely more faulty wiring running through the attic buried under the insulation and someone should come back to assess the entire electrical system. Josh was very courteous and professional and answered all of my questions. After spending about 2.5 hours with us, I was expecting a large bill. I was very pleased when he told me he would only be billing me for one hour. About 30 minutes after he left, we noticed that a light in the hallway would not turn off. I called to report it and Evergreen responded immediately. Josh came back right away and fixed the problem. He even replaced the light switch free of charge. It is nice to see a company that stands by its work and acts so quickly when something is wrong. I would highly recommend Evergreen Electric. They are prompt, thorough, and stand by their work.
"We had a horrendous situation with a basement floor installation that went wrong leaving our house full of fumes, and a week later we discovered our basement was contaminated by asbestos in the process. When we called Bill and Contractors Unlimited, they were extremely responsive. Although other companies gave us bids, Bill was able to work his schedule to fit us in weeks sooner than the others. Although the cost was a bit more, that saved us money because we were displaced and could not even go into our house because of the fumes. CU set up negative air machines to replace the air, they followed asbestos abatement laws, they cleaned every item that could be salvaged in our house. They even saved more than we thought which really reduced our overall expense. Bill and his team were extremely professional, friendly, helpful, and really went out of their way to ease our stress from this situation. At the end of their process, Bill arranged for a air quality inspection which we happily passed - able to return home. I would gladly recommend Contractors Unlimited for asbestos abatement. I just wish we had called them before the floor guys created such a disaster. Thank you Bill! "
"Absolutely highest recommendation - this was a very positive home improvement experience, and I found this to be an honest and trustworthy company. Nafi Saafi & his crew installed hardwood floors and new carpet throughout my house, which was a week-long project. They were extremely professional, and I will definitely hire them again for flooring, bath and kitchen projects. They said they would make it easy for me, and happily, they delivered on that promise.
They were punctual, careful, polite and very detail-oriented. Nafi sold us the carpeting and flooring as well. His recommendations were very helpful and in excellent taste, and were well-priced, high quality products. He came to the house after I had selected carpet and flooring samples, and he brought them with him so I was able to compare samples onsite. They cleaned up after themselves (sweeping, vacuuming and removing tools, old carpet and other trash) every day at the end of the day, and they were very careful with our furniture and possessions, which they had to move in and out of each room as the installation progressed.
One example which shows their detail orientation - they put in a wooden threshold separating a newly-carpeted room from the new hardwood hallway. It looked fine to me as they started to nail it in place, but on their own initiative they stopped and remeasured and said they thought it was a little too high and didn't' quite fit tightly enough, so they pulled it up and re-cut it so the carpet and hardwood were flush and perfectly accommodated the door. (They also shaved the bottoms of doors that needed to be adjusted for the new flooring, and were also careful with that.)"
"After talking to and receiving quotes from 6 contractors we selected BK Contractors (Bret) for our remodel. The project included creating a new home office that needed to be insulated and sound proofed, a home theater, a kid’s playroom, half bath, and craft / arts center. Additionally, the hot water heater needed to be relocated with new plumbing lines run. Bret and his team were very professional and great to work with!!! Starting with the design and contracting process, Bret was easy to work with. He was more than happy to spend as much time as needed to help design the project. Like most people, we had a limited budge. Bret was able to offer options that allowed us to stay within our budge while maximizing our design. As for the contract, Bret’s scope of work and contract was thorough and left no doubt we select the right contractor. Within days of signing the contract Bret had the building permit in order and his guys were hard at work. The framing, electrical and plumbing rough-in were competed within a few weeks. All of his employees are very professional, polite, respect your home as if is it their home. At the end of each day, the work site was swept clean and the trash taken out. Throughout the entire project Bret was ALWAYS available and just a phone call away. I would absolutely recommend BK Contractors and will certainly use him again."
"It cost us about $12,000 but then we got a refund and tax rebate. I think on the whole it was a positive experience. We had to have them come back and redo the basement because they hired some people who never knew what they were doing. They covered some things which shouldn’t have been covered and so that was pretty bad. They came and looked at it and the guy who was in charge of the insulation came and said that it was not going to stand and the best guy they had came out and tore out the bad stuff and completely redid a third of the basement to our satisfaction. They did a good job ultimately but it was just a drag and I had to call and tell them it was not right. I went with another company who arranged for these guys to come out and so I didn’t price shop. We are very happy with an insulated house. It is a lot quieter and it was definitely worth doing. The big ticket was that we decided to inject foam into the walls. We have an old balloon frame house and we paid $7500 for that and you could do it for less money but we chose an expensive one. Once they came back and fixed it the quality was good and I was happy with it. We wouldn’t use them again because we did call them to do a ventilation job and they wanted $3000 to do ventilation up there and we were kind of concerned that they never mentioned it when they were doing the insulation. I feel that if I weren’t there to watch out and see what they were doing they would have left the basement in the way I didn’t like it. I had to call them and tell them that I didn’t like and it was not appropriate and then they came right over and fixed it. I feel that was not my job. I felt that my job was to hire somebody and their job was to do it right. "
