"It went great! Especially helpful was the site manager Adam Metzger! He was a delight with which to work. He was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and knew his business. I cannot envision any individual coming close to matching his expertise. This comes from me, Larry A. Seitz, Ph.D. with degrees in engineering, physics, math, and statistics. Without hesitation or reservation I would hire Adam in a minute. After construction was completed he stopped by on his own time just to make sure everything was okay. If you ever have the opportunity to hire this individual, do it immediately."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

If you love long soaks, appreciate spa-style decor, and don't mind the extra space, a Roman tub is a beautiful addition to your bathroom.

The decision between wainscoting and shiplap for your bathroom will depend on the end result you’re looking for. Shiplap covers the entire wall and can be used on ceilings. Wainscoting is installed on the lower third of the wall and acts as an accent. One major consideration is that shiplap has rabbets that create space between the boards where moisture and dust can hide. Since bathrooms are a high-moisture environment, you may want to opt for wainscotting.

You can add a bathroom almost anywhere in a house, but location, space, and existing plumbing and electrical setups are major factors that impact price. Running plumbing and electrical to your new bathroom can become costly, so think strategically about where to add them. You’ll need a big enough space with plenty of ventilation and outlets to accommodate the bathroom you’re envisioning.

While a bathroom vanity doesn't need to be flush with the side wall, it’s best to install it that way where possible. Achieving a flush fit can enhance aesthetics and create a cohesive look, plus it will help conceal and safeguard your plumbing. However, exceptions can be made based on design preferences and available space. Be sure that there’s sufficient clearance for drawers and cabinet doors to open comfortably. Additionally, consider factors like plumbing and room layout when deciding on the vanity's positioning relative to the side wall.

Just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should. You can apply new tile over existing tile in a bathroom, but the new tile may not look great if you lay it over worn, cracked, or uneven tiles. The adhesive may not be able to attach the new tile to the old tile properly, and this will add more weight to the drywall.

It takes more time and effort, but removing existing tiles before retiling a bathroom is worth it.
