Willis Builders did 2 full baths & kitchen reno + laminate floor install on main level of our modest 3-story T/H (Jan-Apr ‘24). Marcelo was our PM and as many others say, his crew did not disappoint. Willis was neither the highest nor the lowest quote of several but we felt Matt Willis presented the most honest and realistic estimate for our project and he hit that nail on the head. They might say we bothered them with questions; we might say we had to nudge them a few times. We did our homework to help things move along more smoothly & they did their best to accommodate us. We purchased a bunch of stuff before choosing a contractor. No matter what we threw at them, installation was a success which is a testament to the knowledge and capabilities of Marcelo & crew (Horatio, Frankie & “George”). When we were undecided or unsure about a product, Marcelo steered us toward better or more appropriate alternatives. We had no issue, as a few others suggested, with crews leaving things clean at the end of the day. Our T/H is small with limited space for them to work/store materials & equipment. We never felt compromised during 3 months of disruption. (And we never hesitated to leave our home when work was being done.) Is everything perfect? No, there is no such thing as perfection in an almost 40-yr old house reno or any reno for that matter. There were a few glitches as we expected, but uh-ohs and problems that arose were resolved promptly. We waited to post this glowing review of our project to see if any problems showed up, and none did. Until the ceiling in our bedroom collapsed several months later which had absolutely nothing to do with their work. We are so thankful that we had no reservations about sending Matt Willis an SOS for help with our emergency. In fact, we were so confident in his work that we decided to add painting and a carpet upgrade to what has become an almost total house reno. Again, Matt’s estimates were fair and reasonable, such that our confidence in his company allowed us to forgo spending time getting quotes from others. Matt told us repeatedly how good his ‘drywall guy’ was, and he did not exaggerate! Will & sidekick Carlos were fast and fastidious! The carpet install was equally quick and painless. We are so very happy with the results of our sudden and unexpected 2nd Willis project. We're sorry we didn’t get a chance to rave about how thrilled we are with the results of our 1st until now. If you’re considering home improvements, we highly recommend you consider Willis Builders. We’re doubly happy we did!

I used Home Advisor, which is owned by Angi, and they contacted me to set up a time for an estimate. They came out and were very pleasant and we had a good conversation explaining the scope of work, which was a roof and redo a whole front porch. A week went by and then I got a notice for an upcoming appointment with them. I emailed back that we already had our appointment the previous week, and Matthew, the owner apologized and said he was confused and would have my estimate done by the week’s end. I emailed Matthew later the following week to check the status of the estimate. Honestly, the way he had presented himself, we really wanted to work with them. I saw a review on here where this has happened before, and he claimed that he always gets back to people in a timely manner. This is a complete lie and what it boils down to is that my job, being between $15-$25k was too small of a job for them. He has never replied to my email. Mind you, this is the same email that he originally replied to, so I know it wasn’t spam. He simply could have had the courtesy to tell me he didn’t want the job and I would have been fine with it. But, to ghost me is unprofessional, and now he has earned the negative review. The silver lining is the company we are working with has much better reviews and is extremely timely when responding to any questions or concerns. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company.

Team did a good job. The quote was competitive, the work was initiated on time and there was a good project manager/technical project lead onsite the entire project. The team was flexible with small additional changes. We've had the company do a couple of projects, this included multiple bathroom remodels (including master bath which was a big project) and building out an additional bedroom.

Could not have gone better. They made the necessary construction modifications required in an old, uneven house, they did the work in just over one month, and we very clear about the additional costs that arose from construction obstacles as well as additional items we selected for them to do.

We used Willis Builders when we first moved into this house 8 years ago and were extremely satisfied with their work, so we decided to hire them the update our two upstairs bathrooms (along with a couple other minor things around the house). The craftsmanship and efficiency of the project blew me away and I am super happy that I decided to use them again for this project. Naveed and Nelson were fantastic. I was amazed at the long days they spent and how efficient the work was. Naveed came to me with any questions and feedback....and the few small issues with materials were resolved quickly and easily. They are a great team and I would recommend them to anyone for a similar project.

It went amazing. Naveed was a great project manager and walked us through the process every step of the way. He explained multiple options and provided recommendations on how to better design our basement layout. The end product was better than we could imagine. We asked Willis Builders to remodel our two bathrooms after they did a great job helping deal with water intrusion (upgrading to wider gutters, rearranging downspouts, installing a sump pump). Both jobs were overseen by Leo, who did great work and was extremely helpful when we discovered we'd forgotten something or didn't have enough of XYZ because the pandemic slowed shipping down. I would gladly hire them again!

This was a top to bottom complete renovation of my house. All work to be done was described in well written project proposals. I have lived in my house since 8/1/1972. Over the years I have had workers here to do some renovations and repairs. Matthew Willis of Willis Builders, the Project Manager Marcelo Gomes, and all the workers that came to my house were very professional. I am very, very pleased with the outcome of this renovation. My house is better than brand new only because I was fortunate to have Willis Builders do this renovation.

Slight delay in starting work and then project was on schedule and remained on schedule. Mathew Willis was very helpful at all stages and provided good advice and recommendations. Because this was a basement bathroom we asked him for his recommendations and followed them on tile, appliances, windows, etc. We also had him do the purchase and installation of everything. As easy as such a renovation could be.

We hired Matthew and his team to completely gut and renovate our small master bathroom. Very generally, the experience was a positive one. The good: - Matthew and his subcontractor were extremely responsive to emails, texts, and calls - If we pointed out something that we thought wasn't quite perfect, they were happy to fix it - trash was removed fairly regularly and they would always tidy up the work/ storage area if asked (mostly when it was spilling into our walkway) - They always called to ask before adding extra work to the contract, even if it was clearly necessary (i.e. sistering some beams that had dry rot) - bills and itemized receipts were produced promptly and regularly - the estimate for labor was spot-on and we didn't feel like we were upsold - the additional costs came from things we had either anticipated or agreed were necessary (some beam sistering, replacing the ceiling, finding an alternate way to vent a new fan) The bad: - our project manager was only on-site a couple times a week and not for very long, which meant there was no direct supervision of the guys doing the work - it felt like every day or every other day we had to point out stuff that needed to be fixed - a crooked tile, missing waterproofing, regular tile used where there should have been bullnose - which was frustrating - they frequently ran out of things or discovered new supplies they needed that had to be ordered (shower valves, more tile, etc.), leading to delays - the work took about twice as long as they had first estimated Overall, I understand that some of these frustrations and difficulties are just part of dealing with a renovation. While I would have preferred not to have to nudge them about items so frequently, I certainly felt like they were treating us fairly in terms of cost and appreciated the responsiveness.

Great job. First, it was a pleasure to meet with Matthew Willis, the business owner. When we reviewed the project, he came up with options that I hadn't considered - that would have been change orders later. The price quoted was what I paid, so that is a huge positive element. The foreman on the job, Gio, was responsive and a good leader to the two workers. The bath addition was completed in 7 days over a two week period. Most importantly, the finished bathroom is beautiful and well made. It is a pleasure to see the room, and it gives me peace of mind to know that the work behind the walls is also excellent.

For our first-ever home remodeling, we decided to go with Matthew Willis' team to help us renovate our basement. We worked with them for a total of 2 months in turning around an empty basement to an inviting space with a wet bar, entertainment room, new bathroom, and playroom. It turned out to be a great decision to use Willis with their constant communication, knowledgeable team headed by project manager Luis, and their ability to turn our vision into reality. After a walk-through of our dream basement, Matt was timely and thorough with our project estimates which we really appreciated. He answered any questions we had without hesitation, which made him very approachable. Throughout the entire project, we knew we could communicate with him via email or text, and he was always very up-to-date with how our project was progressing. He also came by every few weeks, and he made sure everything was going as planned. Luis, our project manager, was also a great person to work with. He made sure that my husband and I were happy with his work, and whenever we came to a hiccup (and there always will be minor hiccups!), he would always consult us before continuing on. He was more than flexible with any of our adjustments/changes and stayed on task with his team. It's been a few months since completion and with the exception of one recessed light falling out, which has been fixed under warranty, we haven't had any issues. They're a great team to work with overall and would recommend.
