"We loved working with Cosmo builders on our new custom home construction The cosmo team and their sub were very professional, patient & helpful on every step of the process starting from first estimating, understanding of our budget needs, customization of the finishing materials, Fixtures choice based on our budget. also they were a great advisor for me during the process on the selection of materials, design, colors and electrical fixtures. moreover, they created a modern and customized beautiful bathrooms and kitchen that was just what we wanted. despite that, the crews were very polite, technical and passion for the quality work. with help of our contractor cosmo builders, we have unique house floor plan and a clean interior house design while the building process took little bit more time than normal! but it's okay because we end with satisfaction, We have been extremely happy with the quality and craftsmanship. I definitely recommend cosmo to anyone who are looking for right contractor to redesign/build or manage residential project, and i hope to work gain with them soon on our third investment project in the future again."

"We chose VKB to do our complete gut master bathroom renovation and were so happy with their work in terms of reliability, craftsmanship, and customer service that we hired them to renovate our hall bathroom as well. For both bathrooms we worked with Calvin as our designer and Jason as our project manager, and both of them went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy with the design, that the project ran smoothly and on time, and that the final product was exactly what we wanted. We wouldn't hesitate to use VKB again if we need any other work done on our home, and we have already begun recommending them to family and friends and will continue to do so. We are very pleased with our experience with VKB!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Studio 76 completed my entire home remodeling for single-family home I bought in as-is condition. Home was in 1970 condition and nothing was updated over the years. I got help in deciding each item and vendors suggested by them had a very good variety of produces at a decent price. This project was very pleasant experience and I am very impressed with quality work performed by them. I definitely recommend them for any kind of project as they have capability and tools to complete any tasks."

Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

How long it takes to build a custom home or rebuild a home after a disaster varies depending on many factors, but averages between seven and 14 months. Smaller homes or homes that don’t need a re-poured foundation may take less time to build than larger homes or homes without an existing foundation. Material availability, contractor schedules, and permit and inspection timelines can all affect how long your house takes to build.

The longest part of building a custom home is the design phase. It takes multiple professionals and a ton of work to bring your vision for your dream home to life while sticking to a homebuilding budget and also ensuring everything is built to code. Expect the design phase for a custom home build to take six months to a year.

The average build timeline for a home is between six and 12 months, with timelines pushing toward the upper end of that range if you’re creating a custom design or need a lot of land preparation before getting started. Hiring a general contractor or a custom homebuilder will help speed up the process, as you’ll see fewer delays between different parts of the build process getting done.

Handypeople usually don’t hold trade licenses, so they typically aren’t qualified to tackle projects involving installing or making alterations to plumbing or electrical lines. Below are some jobs that a handyperson usually won’t be able to complete:

  • Installing plumbing for a new kitchen or bathroom

  • Replacing plumbing pipes

  • Installing or repairing septic systems

  • Running new electrical wiring

  • Installing a subpanel

The primary reason homes have crawl spaces is so the foundation can reach down below the frost line to avoid dangerous soil movement and structural damage when the ground freezes. They’re more popular in colder climates where the ground freezes down to a few feet, and slabs are most popular in warmer areas where there is no frost line. Crawl spaces also provide a space for utility lines to run where they’re at less of a risk of freezing.
