"Provider was suppose to return and finish laying sand on the patio. Since job was very close to complete, I paid him rather than wait. I never heard from him again. The sand has since washed out in spots and another provider is correcting the situation with polymeric sand. Other than the sand issue, the patio looks good in the way it is laid out. Provider was punctual, and the project went very fast considering it was in the middle of the winter.

"Paul and his team with EaZy Construction Inc have great pricing. They beat the existing quotes I was given. They are prompt, efficient and capable. EaZy Construction came to my residence, quoted me, accepted and completed the work when other companies couldn’t even start the work for months. The whole crew was very personable and pleasure to have on my property while they finished my fencing project. I was so impressed with the professionalism and quality of their work I plan to use them for all of there services in the future as I continue to improve my home."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

You’ll need to bury the garden fence about 1 foot underground. It’s tempting to save on materials by burying the fence just a couple of inches, but if you do so, determined pests will still be able to dig under the fence and access your plants. Burying your garden fence deep into the soil is an important step that allows you to attach a wire barrier to the fencing.

Burrowing animals (like voles, moles, rabbits, and gophers) can’t dig or chew through this wiring, meaning that you’ll be keeping your prized petunias or your robust veggie garden from being eaten.

The best way to protect your pets from coyotes is to ensure they are always supervised when outside, especially during dawn and dusk when coyotes are the most active. When walking your dog, keep it on a short leash and carry something noisy you can use to haze any coyotes you may encounter.

There are many types of wood fencing that you can choose from. For split rail fencing, the most common wood types are cedar, pine, black locust, and chestnut. The best wood for you will depend on if you like the way a certain wood looks and the availability of the wood type in your area.

Most of the wood types you can find at your local home improvement store are good choices since they all have rot-resistant properties or are pressure-treated with pesticides. If none of the wood options speak to the look you’re going for, check out vinyl fencing.

The average lifespan of a wood fence is 15 to 20 years, but some can last for 40 years or more depending on several factors. The type of wood is crucial; for example, untreated pine may only last 5 to 10 years, while pressure-treated pine can last up to 20 years, and cedar's natural resistance can extend its life to 40 years. Other factors include local weather conditions, with wet and windy climates causing faster deterioration, and the quality of maintenance. Higher-end wood, metal posts, and privacy fence styles also tend to last longer.

No, fence posts aren’t always set in concrete. If you don’t want to use concrete footings for your posts, expanding foam is a popular alternative. Expanding foam and concrete each have certain pros and cons. For instance, foam is easier to install and more sustainable, but concrete is sturdier and less expensive.
