"Great company to hire and to have work done. The crew works hard to make sure the prep work is done almost properly. They encapsulated the crawlspace, installed a sump pump & dehumidifier. All within days. I am hiring them again to level the house."

"JES put in an excellent crawl space "Clean Space" encapsulation system, de-humidifier, and sump pump for my parents over 10 years ago. It is so clean down there that you could sit down and have lunch. Yesterday, Dasmine Littlejohn of JES came out to the house and did an outstanding job inspecting the system and preparing a report in connection with the sale of the home. Great work -- we appreciate your help!"

"I was very happy that Cole was able to come out the same day. They showed up on time and got right to the problem. It turns out that my line was not 220V or 240V as I had thought, but only 120V. He also noticed that the electric wire had been run through a foundation vent rather than through the rim joist and didn't meet code. The electrician gave me some options, and I decided to have him run a new line on its own breaker, which involved him working mostly under the house in the crawl space. He also replaced the old outlet, which although it was designed for outdoor use, wasn't as good as the new one that he installed. They supplied all the materials.  When he had that job completed, I had him install a replacement attic fan, since mine had stopped working and I had already purchased a new kit but hadn't put it in yet. He did that fairly quickly and cleaned up the mess neatly in the box for the new fan.

I did fail to really discuss price much as we discussed the options. I was figuring in my head an estimate, based on how long things would take and the materials, but frankly I really wanted the jobs done that day and didn't want to slow him down by having him figure up several different prices. So, my bill was around $75 more that I had guessed, but with the prices of copper high right now, I wasn't too disappointed. But, my idea of an A rating is for the price to be either exactly what was quoted or on the low side of an estimate. Since I didn't get a good quote, it's hard to compare in that regard. But I would use this contractor again as they were very clean, professional, and the work seemed solid. I would say a B+ on the price if that was an option.  I haven't had any problems with the work."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $300 to $1,200, depending on the pump type, issue, and installation complexity.

Thankfully, you do have a few sump pump backup options in case it fails. One option is a battery-powered backup sump pump. Another option is using a portable backup generator as a power supply for your sump pump. Unlike a battery-powered backup which has limited power, a generator can run around the clock for as long as you need it.

Or you can opt for a water-powered backup pump, which uses your home’s water supply as a source of power. However, this may not be the best option if you find your house frequently has low water pressure.

If you have a self-cleaning washing machine but you’re still seeing lint, your water pump filter might be clogged. To clean it, you should unscrew the drain hose, then remove the water pump filter. From there, you can inspect it and clean it with warm water before replacing it. Check to be sure your washing machine is functioning by running a short cycle.

Yes, many providers offer warranties for new pumps and labor. Confirm terms before scheduling.

One common reason a sump pump stops working is improper sizing. Different locations need different sizes and power ratings of sump pumps depending on the typical amount of water the pump needs to manage. If your sump pump is too small for the quantity of water, it can overwork and either burn out or reduce the life of the unit. If the pump is too big, it can overwork and burn out early.
