"Had some delays in starting the project due to the windstorm and other unforeseen issues on the company's end, but once Alex and Travis showed up it was awesome! They installed the ceiling fans promptly. In addition, they repaired an outlet that the builder improperly wired AND they replaced an outside light sensor that was not working - free of charge. They were polite, professional and skilled. Great experience."

"I reached out due to a failed furnace and poor service through my home warranty company. Mr. Boggs came out to my home to take a look and give me an estimate. He was so kind and flexible with his time. After looking at my furnace he explained the options and even drew the system on a sketch pad so that I would understand what the plan was. He made sure that I was comfortable and was not a â pushy salespersonâ that can be typical. He emailed me the estimate with the options that we went over and I chose the best one for me. He even reached out to me to check on us while the parts were being ordered to make sure we were okay if it got too cold outside. After the parts came in they were at my house and removed the old clunky furnace and replaced it with sleek new one including the outdoor fan. All in one day! This same day I had to take my son to the hospital because he sprained his ankle, when I finally got home to a warm house, I wanted to cry. It had been six months with a working furnace due to trying to go through my home warranty company. Once I nixed that plan after months of no progress and decided to do it on my own, Mr. Boggs was right there to help. I appreciate him more than he knows."

"I had had a heat pump "tuneup" by an unnamed company in November and I was told the defrost board was not functioning and it would cost about $550 to fix it.  I made no decision immediately but after finding the cost of the defrost board on line I thought the repair price was high.  I chose David Ashcom from reviews on Angie's list and called asking to have the defrost board replaced.  The woman I spoke with was very helpful and she said her husband liked to assess the heat pump himself and would charge $75 for that service.  When I asked what the approximate cost for replacing the defrost board the quote was considerably less that the $550, so I engaged their services.  I received a call from the woman at Ashcom's office after the repairman had looked at my heat pump and she stated he found nothing wrong with the defrost board.  I was incredulous and she had the man check again but again following testing he found nothing wrong.  So $75 was all I paid and my heat pump has been working well through this cold winter.  I know i will never call the first company again but will definitely call on David Ashcom for any heating and air conditioning problems.  It is refreshing to find honest people these days.

"Computer did the "gotta send info to Microsoft" but when tried to reboot it ran through automatic repair without success. I did all the alternative without any success. He came and picked up the hard drive on Tuesday and returned it on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to "restore" without any data loss. Very happy with outcome."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Safety concerns with propane boilers include proper venting to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, secure gas line connections, and regular inspection of safety controls. Professional boiler installation and annual maintenance are essential to minimize risks. Having a carbon monoxide detector installed in your home is essential for early detection of any leaks or ventilation issues.

Most experts recommend getting three to five HVAC quotes from licensed, insured, reputable local heating and cooling companies. Getting multiple detailed HVAC quotes (but not too many) lets you compare the equipment, services, and prices of several contractors without being overwhelmed by options. It can also let you see if one contractor’s prices are much higher or lower than the others and give you a chance to ask for clarification. That way, you can weed out any contractors who aren’t providing quality services or materials and find the company that best meets your budget, quality requirements, and long-term goals.

A furnace is a big unit where gas, heating oil, or electricity heats the air. The warmed air is then pushed back out through ducts and vents.

A boiler uses electricity, heating oil, or gas to heat water that is pushed into the room through a radiator. This is one of the oldest and most effective ways to heat a house, but radiators can also be unsightly and leave hot and cold spots in the room.

Heat pumps use a refrigerant to move heat from outside into the house and return it to the room through ducts and vents.

In some cases, conversion kits are available, but not all boilers are compatible. Conversion may require significant modifications and should only be performed by a qualified professional. Before making a decision, compare conversion costs to the cost of a complete replacement to determine the most cost-effective and reliable option for your home.

Generally, an oil furnace is considered safer than a gas furnace for several reasons. While both types of furnaces can produce carbon monoxide, a leak in an oil furnace is easier to detect due to the smell. Oil furnaces also don't connect to a gas pipeline, which reduces the chance of a fuel leak. Most importantly, heating oil is not combustible, whereas natural gas is highly flammable. This means there is a much lower risk of combustion or explosion with an oil furnace. However, an oil furnace can still pose a fire hazard if it tips over.
