I have used David Ashcom for two mini-split installations and repairs & maintenance on 3 different homes.  They do great work at a very reasonable price.  He is knowledgeable and doesn't try to up sell you on things you don't need.  They also clean up well after the  job is complete.  I will definitely be using this company again in the future.

Ashcom Heating has been a great company to work with.  They were able to come out promptly and knew exactly what to do.

I had had a heat pump "tuneup" by an unnamed company in November and I was told the defrost board was not functioning and it would cost about $550 to fix it.  I made no decision immediately but after finding the cost of the defrost board on line I thought the repair price was high.  I chose David Ashcom from reviews on Angie's list and called asking to have the defrost board replaced.  The woman I spoke with was very helpful and she said her husband liked to assess the heat pump himself and would charge $75 for that service.  When I asked what the approximate cost for replacing the defrost board the quote was considerably less that the $550, so I engaged their services.  I received a call from the woman at Ashcom's office after the repairman had looked at my heat pump and she stated he found nothing wrong with the defrost board.  I was incredulous and she had the man check again but again following testing he found nothing wrong.  So $75 was all I paid and my heat pump has been working well through this cold winter.  I know i will never call the first company again but will definitely call on David Ashcom for any heating and air conditioning problems.  It is refreshing to find honest people these days.

Mr. Ashcom did a thorough check of my heat pump system, changing the filter, making adjustments, and diagnosed a small  problem part that needed immediate fixing, so he took care of that as well. One issue I was having had to do with a noisy start and David actually flipped a "quiet" switch that my previous HVAC man had not done, which made the unit much quieter. David was willing to answer questions without a problem; he mentioned things to watch for, since my system is a little older; he did not seem to be looking for repairs that weren't necessary, which I appreciated. 
Also, I lived a bit outside of David Ashcom's usual service area, but he came anyway and he didn't have a bad attitude about the extra travel time.  I liked his professional manner and would happily recommend him as an honest contractor.  If he's willing to come back next year, I'll gladly hire him!!

Actually I was not happy with it. He is very skilled but he decided I needed an awful lot of antifreeze. He quoted me one price when he was here but then hen I got a different one when I got the bill. I emailed him and he made no response back and I'm assuming that means he's just not going to do anything. I wasn't here during the work but one of he tenants were. I thought the price was extremely high.

Great--very helpful in identifying the problem with the A/C and fixing it at little cost on top of the tune-up.

When our ancient a/c unit finally gave up the ghost it was during a hot spell and with company arriving in a few days. Angie's List showed great reviews so we gave David a call. He came out promptly to take a careful look. We had replaced the gas furnace in 2006 without replacing the a/c unit, so it was a tricky situation to retrofit the a/c accordingly. Based on his findings David wrote up 3 price options and reviewed them carefully with us. We went with his recommendation and the work was completed just in time for our company's arrival. 
We found David and his staff to be very pleasant and professional. We gained tremendous confidence in David's expertise and plan to be his customers now. For example, he was the first HVAC technician to accurately explain the proper use of the in-system humidifier we'd had installed with the gas furnace. It never seemed to work but everyone, including the company who installed it, indicated it was working properly. This had nothing to do with replacing the a/c but David volunteered the correct information and promised to get us up and running with it when the time comes.

I was so impressed by his professionalism, energy and the extremely
well-organized back-office support he gets from his fiancee, that I
asked him to do the yearly maintenance on our three rental properties. 
He has a sort of laid-back personality, but he works very diligently and
in a focused way.

All in all it went great. David and his assistant went above and beyond what I thought they were going to do. They were extremely professional, provided detailed responses to questions I had, and even returned free of charge two days later when I thought the A/C went out, but it was actually an electrical fuse box issue.  I would definitely hire them for any needs in the future.

David was wonderful. He showed up on time, wore shoe covers in my house, and was efficient in his AC checkup. He noticed a few small things that needed to be repaired and came back later that day with the supplies he needed to complete the project. He was very helpful at explaining the work that needed to be done and I felt his prices were very fair. In addition, his admin Jessie did an excellent job of scheduling my appointment and sending the invoice promptly. I will definitely be calling him again.

It went well and there were no issues!  The price was great because the others in the area charge hundreds of dollars.  He also located and solved another problem.  He was very professional and right on time.  I’ll definitely use him in the future and I’ve already told my neighbors about him.
