"Overall, the experience was okay.
Designer missed first appointment at my house (that we had scheduled over the phone), which was disappointing because I had taken off of work for that specific purpose. Called to find out where he was and said he said he didn't have the appointment in his calendar. Was accommodating in rescheduling appointment on a Saturday. Showed up, took measurements, and we discussed the layout of my kitchen, which to be fair, is very complicated given radiators, windows, doors, etc.. Design had good ideas and provided a starting point for me, but just didn't feel right.
After getting the quote for the renovation ($38,890), which I had to follow up to request that it be itemized, I determined that the prices were high. For instance, quote for install/sanding of hardwoods in kitchen/living room was more than double what I had it done for with a highly-rated Angie's list flooring provider. Cabinets were $19,510, and i felt like the kitchen was designed to sell the cabinets, which given that I had been clear up front about my firm budget of $30k, design could have been scaled down to minimize cabinetry and associated expenses. Other items in the scope of work were lumped together and not adequate broken down, so I could not see what the estimate per each individual labor item was.
Dwain, the owner, was responsive and did seem eager to do business with me. However, the pricing for the complete kitchen remodel was out of my range and the design just didn't click, so I ended up not going with them.

"Overall the project went extremely well.  Suncrest made good design suggestions and also found places where we could reduce costs without compromising on materials quality or design.  They did very high quality work in a timely fashion, as did their glass subcontractor.  The only change order was a result of changes my wife and i requested and Suncrest accommodated.  They kept the work area very clean, with minimal dust, and kept it from getting into the rest of the house. 
We are very happy with the final results.  Suncrest's final total cost is about 15% under what two other well-known home improvement estimated.  Suncrest stood by its original estimate, while the other two original estimates grew as the project details become known.  The other contractors required that all materials orders go through them, which caused those prices to be higher than we paid by dealing direct. 
We agreed to let Suncrest use one of our garage stalls for storing waste materials.  That worked out fine, although I should have asked them to haul at least some of it about halfway through the project.

"This was a complicated project. There were 8 units that needed fully remodeled simultaneously. This project also included carpeting multiple common area corridors. DMV Home Design handled all aspects of the project including demo, design, drywall, flooring, painting, kitchen layout and design, framing and all types of finishes. They are priced competitively and stand behind their work. They are very dependable, and I would use them again for sure. They also handled parquet floors for me on another project and did beautiful work."
