"When confronted with a crisis because of a copper plumbing burglary, Mr. Grady, of Grady's Painting, Plastering and Construction, willingly traveled many miles to come to my aid. Requesting only a $1.00 deposit against a $4,500.00 job, he masterfully reconstructed my nineteenth century lath and plaster hallway wall, also thoroughly compensating for a missing portion of a central stud unwittingly removed by a plumber! After his extensive search for appropriate composition and dimension of material, he replaced and replicated a section of my forty-year-old faux onyx tub surround with common white PVC sheet, tinted oil-based colors, glaze, paint brush, and a rag. His applied natural talents and superlative skills saved me thousands of dollars! On the basis of both professional conversation and knowledgeable observation, Mr. Grady possesses the intrinsic knowledge of old-world trades, the artistic capabilities, the problem=solving thought processes, and the personal work ethic to accomplish a broud scope of reconstruction and restoration."

"George's painting, inc was responsive and professional from start to finish. The project entailed wallpaper removal from 2.5 bathrooms and kitchen, repainting those rooms; installing a tile backsplash and vinyl tile floor in the kitchen; replacing the kitchen countertop; repairing a cabinet; repairing drywall and painting the ceiling in the master bedroom. The owner came out to do the estimate himself. He was accommodating when I wanted to expand the scope of the initial project and came out a second time to give me an updated estimate. He was easy to reach via cell or email. The estimate was more than fair. His crew completed the job in three days. The crew was polite, professional, and did a good job cleaning up at the end of each work day. I highly recommend this company and would use them again."

"The overall experience was exceptional. Luis meet with my wife and I and did a walk thru of the property and provided us with an estimate within an hour of the walk-thru. I already had heard excellent things about his company from numerous co-workers who had FDC paint their home. I truly feel like we got an extreme value in terms of the service we received for the price. Since our house was a new build, we had a number of cracks and nail pops associated with the home settling. Also, entire house to include walls ceiling and trim was a blah beige. Needless to say, FDC had their work cut out for them. Luis and his team skimmed and sanded all these areas and repaired the drywall making the necessary repairs as part of their prep work. Once painting had begun, he provided a daily up date on the project and sent pictures. We meet on numerous occasions to go over things and I was blown away by he and his crews attention to detail. He not only meet the deadline but was able to get the whole house done a day early. He and his team treated our home like it was their own. Not a single corner was cut and he went above and beyond to make the house perfect. I recommend Luis and FDC Proffesional Painting to anyone who is looking to transform their home and eliminate all stress. Don't waste your time calling multiple painters to get estimates so you can haggle pricing. Just call Luis and he will work with you to meet your needs at your budget. Additionally, all work is backed by a 3 year warranty so if there are any issues or our scratch a wall moving in he and his team will come back and make touch ups or repairs free of charge. My wife and I plan to have FDC come back in the winter to paint our finished basement."

"

We purchased a special of 4 hours of painting for $280. We had a small area of repir on our DR ceiling and on one DR wall. We provided the paint. Small projects are the worst to schedule since no one really wants to do them. the special seemed like the perfect solution for us. Alex contacted us a day after we made the purchase and was able to schedule this work prior to Thanksgiving. They sanded the areas that had been repaired, did a coat of primer and painted the small area on the ceiling. They painted the area on the wall and then went ahead and painted the rest of that single wall so the paint would match.

2 guys worked for 4 hours on this project. They were very neat and careful to cover areas with drop cloths. they had to sand reapir areas so there was a fair amount of drywall dust but, that is to be expected.

At some point we will need someone to come back out and paint the entire ceiling so there is a nice match in paint. The coupon would not cover that extra work.

Very friendly people. They did not charge us for the primer they used. We purchased the rest of the paint ourselves.

"From start to finish, this project went smoothly and the work was fantastic. To begin, Gerardo came to the house for the estimate and provided a thorough and competitive quote as well as made some excellent design and cost-saving suggestions. Once we contracted with CRS, he brought paint samples to the house, put them up in several rooms and gave me time to make my choices. This was no small task as we were having them paint nearly every room in our new home. Once I provided the color and finish selections, we scheduled the job and the fun started. Gerardo and he crew were excellent! They went above and beyond preparing the walls and ceilings. The paint application was precise and through it all they were neat and professional. And throughout the job, Gerardo and his team completed extra tasks here and there at no additional charge. I could not be more pleased with the work they did and I would use CRS again without question. Great company, great quality, great results!

"The building is 3 story wood frame located in the Leesburg historical district. After scraping the wood and prepping for painting, it was discovered that some of the trim had to be repaired. All repairs were made and I am very happy with the entire job which was done at a very reasonable price. I will have Rick paint my house later this year."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Plaster ceilings can sag for several reasons. In some cases, the plaster and other building materials shift and come apart over time, which is why you’ll commonly find drooping plaster ceilings in older homes. Improper installation, foot traffic, and water damage—often from a leaky roof or a broken pipe—can also cause plaster ceilings to sag.

Plaster is a pretty tough surface, but it can still sustain damage from things like bumping against it, water issues, dampness, extreme humidity changes, and plain old age. Most plaster walls last hundreds of years and will only be taken down to the base layer when major repairs are required. Being cautious around the wall, not placing furniture against it, and ensuring stable humidity are all great ways to reduce possible damage.

Repairing plaster walls or ceilings is almost always worthwhile. It restores the appearance of your home, and if it's an exterior wall, the repair can improve curb appeal and provide a great return on investment when selling. Plaster repairs can also reinforce the wall, preventing minor cracks from spreading, and improve your home’s energy efficiency by fixing gaps in the insulative material, potentially lowering your heating and cooling bills. Additionally, hiring a professional allows them to check if the damage is from a serious underlying issue, such as foundation instability. Catching a problem like this early could save you thousands.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.

Both plaster and drywall are durable wall finishes, but they differ significantly in installation, cost, performance, and aesthetics.

Installation & Cost: Drywall installation is faster and more affordable, typically costing $1.50 to $3 per square foot. It uses premade sheets, making it a more accessible DIY project. Plastering is a labor-intensive craft that requires specialized skills, pushing costs to $2 to $10 per square foot. It involves applying a wet paste over a lath framework.

Durability & Performance: Plaster is generally more durable, longer-lasting, and provides superior soundproofing. It is also a better insulator, which can help reduce energy costs. Drywall is easier to remove for future renovations.

Aesthetics: Drywall provides a smooth, uniform surface ready for paint or texture. Plaster offers a high-end, naturally textured look that can hide imperfections and is often preferred for achieving a classic or historic aesthetic.

Which is better? The choice depends on your priorities. Drywall is ideal for those prioritizing a lower upfront cost, faster installation, and DIY potential. Plaster is the better option for a higher-end project where durability, soundproofing, and a unique, premium finish are more important than the initial cost.
