My grandfather, Salem M. Eways, came to the United States as a Stone Mason. In the late 1920s, he began selling fine textiles door-to-door in New York City, until he and his brother found an opportunity to earn money cleaning and repairing rugs. With dedication and hard work, they built the business and eventually grew into 4 stores in the Pennsylvania region. Salem then moved to Charlottesville in the early 1960s and opened a store named Salem M. Eways Oriental Rugs, located in University shopping center on Old Ivy Rd. After the passing of my grandfather, my father, Frank S. Eways, a state trooper in Pennsylvania at the time, left his job and moved his family to Charlottesville to take care of the family business. He eventually moved the store to Emmet St. across from Bodo’s Bagels, where he then grew the business to one of the largest sellers of oriental rugs in the United States in the mid-1970s. Eventually all of the Eways brothers joined together to become one of the largest and most respected flooring companies in the region. For over 85 years, and three generations, the Eways family has been providing the finest area rugs, rug care and maintenance. We have reached the world to bring you the best quality rugs available. Come visit our showroom to see the best selection of antique, traditional, and contemporary rugs in the area. Additional emails - [email protected], [email protected]. Award winning. Also serving Nelson, Rappahannock, Richmond, Roanoke, Roanoke City, Rockingham, Cumberland, Fluvanna, Bath, Charlottesville City, Goochland, Scott & Shenandoah Counties.

Since our founding in 1975, we have consistently delivered excellent service to those needing insurance repairs. By focusing on clients and operating with integrity, we have developed a reputation as a top performer in our industry and grown to serve multiple regions across the nation. Our experience enables us to handle the most detailed and complex repairs with expert precision, while guiding owners through the process and treating their properties as our own.

"Jenkins Restoration came to knock on my door on the same day my house caught fire. They started to work on my house, putting boards on windows without my approval. A few days later, after my family was released from the hospital, their salesmen met us in the hotel and began telling us everything we wanted to hear, saying a lot of good things about Jenkins Restoration. He was very convincing, but they did everything to secure my house reconstruction contract. Over the course of one year, which is how long it took them to finish rebuilding my house, three different project managers oversaw the construction. They were disorganized and dysfunctional. Each time the project manager changed, my house construction paused and communication with the previous manager was lost, creating a difficult environment between me and them. Their general manager, Brian Asbury, was arrogant and out of touch when I started to complain about their poor performance, lack of customer service, and empathy for my family. My house construction was supposed to take 6 months to complete, but it took them a year. Even after a year, I had to rush to move in because my insurance didn't want to cover my rental house any longer. Jenkins Restoration never fully completed my house, and in the end, I had to settle with them to move on with my life. Here is my advice: if you hire Jenkins Restoration or anyone else, study the work scope approved by your insurance for your home. Jenkins Restoration added many extra demands to my home work scope, which my insurance company approved for thousands of dollars, but they never completed the work. They used cheap materials for my house, including flat paint, to save money for themselves. Be involved in the materials purchasing for your house, as they only hire low-paying contractors, many of whom don't speak English. Jenkins Restoration prioritizes money over customer care. Additionally, when they are counting your personal belongings, be present and take pictures of each item. Contractors from Jenkins Restoration who counted my belongings stole many items from my house, including electronics and tools from my garage. They also scratched my brand new $3000 Samsung refrigerator and refused to replace it. To ensure the money approved by your insurance for house construction is properly used, know what is in the work scope and make sure everything is completed as listed. If not, make a claim as it is your money. If you are not familiar with the work scope, they may take advantage of you and not complete the work as approved by your insurance. My experience with Jenkins Restoration was awful, and I do not recommend them. If diversity is important to you, note that Jenkins Restoration does not exemplify this value, as they are dishonest and lack diversity, consisting of only one race of greedy individuals."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Castleton, VA

While it’s possible to install carpet yourself, it’s best to hire a local carpet installer to ensure it’s done correctly and safely. Before installing carpet yourself, check whether the manufacturer’s warranty will remain intact. Many manufacturer’s warranties won’t cover the cost of materials under the warranty if it wasn’t installed by a pro. In addition, you should only install carpet yourself if you’re familiar with the tools required and if the installation is straightforward, not involving things such as floor vents or stairs.

Keeping your new carpet clean is vital to extending its longevity. Vacuuming regularly—at least once a week—can help remove dirt, debris, and pet hair. Instead of waiting, treating stains as they appear helps keep your carpet fibers looking fresh. Remember to blot rather than rub, rubbing will only make the stain larger.

It’s ideal to hire a professional carpet cleaning service to conduct a deep cleaning of your carpets a few times per year. The cost of professional carpet cleaning is $180 on average, which can help remove tough stains, draw out hidden dust and allergens, and eliminate odors.

There are many different types of carpets for you to choose from. When choosing a carpet, it’s essential to consider the following:

  • Fiber: Describes what your carpet is made of, such as polyester, wool, nylon, or acrylic.

  • Pile type: Explains how your carpet looks. Your carpet fibers can be looped, twisted, cut, or woven.

  • Pile height: Describes the length of your carpet. You can choose a low, medium, or high pile.

  • Density: Refers to how close yarn fibers are to each other.

Carpets can last between five and 15 years. The longevity of your carpet is dependent on a few factors, including its type, cushion, fibers, and amount of foot traffic. The type of carpet you have paired with the material impacts its life span tremendously and the foot traffic it endures.

If your carpet is 20 years or older, replace it soon to avoid potential odors and overly-worn spots. You should consider replacing it sooner if it has stains, water damage, smelly odor, matting, or color loss.

The cost to install carpet is $1,780 on average for 330 square feet, the size of an average living room. This cost could range from $200 to $5,000, depending on the amount of carpet, material, and type of carpet.

If you need 500 square feet of carpet, it’ll cost $1,500 to $5,500, while 1,000 square feet of carpet costs $3,000 to $11,000. Polyester is one of the more affordable options, ranging from $1 to $3 per square foot. Wool is a more luxurious option, ranging from $4 to $20 per square foot
