Jenkins Restoration came to knock on my door on the same day my house caught fire. They started to work on my house, putting boards on windows without my approval. A few days later, after my family was released from the hospital, their salesmen met us in the hotel and began telling us everything we wanted to hear, saying a lot of good things about Jenkins Restoration. He was very convincing, but they did everything to secure my house reconstruction contract. Over the course of one year, which is how long it took them to finish rebuilding my house, three different project managers oversaw the construction. They were disorganized and dysfunctional. Each time the project manager changed, my house construction paused and communication with the previous manager was lost, creating a difficult environment between me and them. Their general manager, Brian Asbury, was arrogant and out of touch when I started to complain about their poor performance, lack of customer service, and empathy for my family. My house construction was supposed to take 6 months to complete, but it took them a year. Even after a year, I had to rush to move in because my insurance didn't want to cover my rental house any longer. Jenkins Restoration never fully completed my house, and in the end, I had to settle with them to move on with my life. Here is my advice: if you hire Jenkins Restoration or anyone else, study the work scope approved by your insurance for your home. Jenkins Restoration added many extra demands to my home work scope, which my insurance company approved for thousands of dollars, but they never completed the work. They used cheap materials for my house, including flat paint, to save money for themselves. Be involved in the materials purchasing for your house, as they only hire low-paying contractors, many of whom don't speak English. Jenkins Restoration prioritizes money over customer care. Additionally, when they are counting your personal belongings, be present and take pictures of each item. Contractors from Jenkins Restoration who counted my belongings stole many items from my house, including electronics and tools from my garage. They also scratched my brand new $3000 Samsung refrigerator and refused to replace it. To ensure the money approved by your insurance for house construction is properly used, know what is in the work scope and make sure everything is completed as listed. If not, make a claim as it is your money. If you are not familiar with the work scope, they may take advantage of you and not complete the work as approved by your insurance. My experience with Jenkins Restoration was awful, and I do not recommend them. If diversity is important to you, note that Jenkins Restoration does not exemplify this value, as they are dishonest and lack diversity, consisting of only one race of greedy individuals.

We were referred to Jenkins Restoration by our insurance company USAA. We had a leak in the master bath and needed to replace part of the floor, vanities and tub. We are in the 5th month of repairs with no end in sight. Jenkins Project Manager 5 times in 5 months! They have no project management, scheduling tools or project timeline. They also broke the shelving system in the dressing room and are refusing to pay for the repairs. A disaster of a company. Stay far away!!!!

Unfortunately my insurance company referred us to Jenkins Restorations. Our experience with them was absolutely horrible from start to finish. First of all the project manager Jeremy was incredibly difficult to get a hold of and kept delaying starting the project by stupid things like “he lost his phone”. When we finally got on the schedule they informed us they didn’t have any flooring samples so we had to go to Lowe’s twice to pick out our own flooring, without any direction at all from the company on what we needed to pick out. The day of the project the workers came to our house without any Covid masks, brought their children to our house and they were playing around in our house, and they also broke a lamp. They installed the floors incorrectly and they moved when you walked on them. They also left jagged edges between the old flooring and the new flooring. When we tried to talk to Jeremy about this he became incredibly combative and unprofessional and started arguing with us. He straight up lied and said they had installed a pad under the floors to level them out which was not true. He also blamed us for the flooring as we had been the ones to pick it out (without any direction from them). Rather than coming out to fix the floors he continued to harass me and my family for the payment. This whole process has been 4 months and we finally found another company that actually acts with integrity and professionalism to come out and fix Jenkins’ mistakes and install the floors correctly. I will never use Jenkins again and I don’t suggest anyone else does either.

It was a long slow process to rebuild our damaged house without tearing the whole thing down. Jenkins handled the ins and outs of dealing with insurance, county permitting, building inspectors, and a multitude of contractors. Our project manager was great and stayed in contact with us all the time. We were happy with the end result.

Good at first. It was an insurance claim and I decided to do some things on my own i.e. painting and cleaning. The Jenkins Restorations rep that came out originally told me if I chose to do this that was fine, but Jenkins was to get ALL the insurance payment regardless whether they perform the work or I do. My insurance adjuster told me that Jenkins wasn't right in what they said and that the payment was mine to do as I saw fit. I didn't use Jenkins because of this. We did much of the work ourselves and had other contractors complete the work.

I asked Jenkins to provide an estimate on the cost of the repair work and they declined to provide it unless I guarantee in writing that I will use them once they provide me the estimates. They wanted me to pay 3% of the estimates if I chose not to use them for the work.

Our experience with Jenkins Restorations was horrible.  Jenkins Restorations was the insurance-recommended contractor to fix our kitchen after our dishwasher leaked for a few days without our knowledge.  Things started off well with the project manager showing up on time and providing an automatically accepted insurance company estimate, but quickly went downhill from there.  It started with inadequately controlling dust during the cabinet removal and floor installation.  We specifically stated we wanted the dust controlled and were assured it would be.  That was a joke because we ended up spending days cleaning the entire house due to the workers undoing the plastic sheets segregating the work area from the rest of the house and opening windows to get airflow.
For the floor we decided to upgrade the floor from linoleum to tile and purchased the tiles ourselves.  We asked Jenkins to purchase and install Duroc for the sub-floor to make it more stable for the tiles, which they did.  Unfortunately, when they installed the Duroc they covered a heating/airconditioning vent in the floor.  They knew they made a mistake but didn't tell us hoping we wouldn't notice and installed the tiles the next day anyway.  The tile installation was atrocious; the tile lines were not straight, the spacing between the tiles was not even, and the individual tiles were not level (i.e., uniform height).  To their credit, Jenkins bought new tiles and completely re-did the floor to an acceptable level, but this kind of substandard workmanship should never have occurred.
For the new cabinets, Jenkins convinced us that Wolf cabinets were an upgrade from what the builder originally provided that would fit within the estimate budget and would be available within two weeks versus four to five weeks for most other cabinet makers.  The cabinets were available within two weeks, but looked like they were assembled from components rejected by quality control.  A door was off-color; there were numerous cracks and dents in doors and drawer faces; in two places there were gashes in the front, bottom frame of the upper cabinets; the pantry was missing all the shelves; the lazy susan was improperly installed; and two cabinets had six inch cracks in the door frames (which Jenkins tried to hide with poorly applied caulking).  Additionally, the installation workmanship was extremely poor quality.  We wanted to preserve our existing backsplash, but Jenkins left a large gap between the upper cabinets and the backsplash which they filled with caulk that looked terrible.  They re-used a filler piece from our old cabinets next to the dishwasher that did not match the color or style of the new cabinets.  They attached the island with only two screws through the tile into the subfloor so the island was not very secure.  The under-cabinet microwave was very poorly installed with the mounting screws at a gross angle rather than straight; so much so that it was impossible to get the microwave flush with the bottom of the cabinet and left an approximately two inch gap.  The Jenkins solution was going to be a filler piece rather than mounting the microwave correctly.
Despite all the cabinet problems, Jenkins argued with us about replacing components and cabinets; particularly the cabinets with the six inch cracks in the door frames.  We would agree to a list verbally and then the written punch list would omit items.
When it came to correcting the cabinet and workmanship errors, the Jenkins project manager and branch supervisor were very dismissive toward my wife and would not negotiate directly with her or take her inputs seriously.  They claimed they had to work with me because the insurance policy was in my name which was not true.  In the end, we fired Jenkins Restorations and took a cash settlement from the insurance company that we used to hire a a vastly superior contractor through Angie's List.

The restoration occurred around the holiday times and right before a winter blizzard. Jenkins remained in contact with us while we settled with our Insurance company. They also conferenced with the insurance company in reaching an agreement on estimates.  Jenkin's was responsive in communication and outlining all of the work that would need to take place.

They provided honest and realistic schedules and were able to meet them.  The manager kept us apprised of any challenges and provided prompt and complete responses to questions.  He effectively managed all of subcontractor work, addressing any potential quality control issues.  He was helpful, flexible, and creative in his management of the entire project.

Not everything went perfectly but when an issue did come up they were resolved quickly.  The key to any type of construction is maintain communication, stay on top of what's going on, try to maintain a balance between being involved and NOT being 'in the way'.  Here's the letter I wrote to Jenkins Restoration concerning my Project Manager:
"I just wanted to follow up with you about the job that Colin Sonnenday did on the rebuild of our house.  I said most, if not all, of this during our phone conversation a while back but we (my wife included here) can?t say enough about the great job that
Colin and his team did for us.  He greatly exceeded our expectations in all areas of reconstruction; including quality of work, the overall process, and the overall schedule.  He walked us through each step of the reconstruction, answered all of our questions (a lot of them before we could ask them), and kept us informed of everything that was happening via email, text, phone, and regular walk throughs.  He helped us stay within our insurance budget and within our personal (extra) budget.  Best of all we were able to ?take possession? of the house in June which was almost 2 months earlier than we expected.  Because of all of his efforts a situation that started out as a nightmare ended up with a beautiful 'almost new' house that our family can enjoy for many years to come.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Colin Sonnenday and Jenkins Restoration for the excellent work and overall performance during the entire process (from the first day of the fire right up to today) of the reconstruction of our home."

Jenkins was assigned water mitigation services for my property through Code Blue. I had a roof leak that resulted in ceiling stains and mold, as well as window/wall leaks on the top and second floor of my home. The initial contact with Jenkins was impressive, and they sent a mitigation specialist (Yahir) to my home arriving right on time. Unfortunately, he wanted to cut open my ceiling before protecting the leaking roof. I advised I wanted the roof tarped before my ceiling was 'opened' for drying. He had to step out and call his supervisor since he was not prepared for a 'roof leak'. Ten minutes later he came in and told me he had spoken to his supervisor and they would get someone out to tarp the roof. Then he could come back to open the ceiling and begin the drying process. Great. After Yahir left, I felt I was in 'good hands' and called the Jenkins Restoration to set up an appointment for an estimate of repairs - presumably to follow the mitigation work. I did not hear from Yahir again. More than 36 hours and several storms later, I still did not have a tarp on my roof. I called Jenkins (Colin this time), they told me they did not have the order for work from my insurance company - I gave them the claim ID and told them they must have it since they had sent someone out the day before. They told me to call my insurance company to work it. So I did. And I called Code Blue. Jenkins (Andrew) finally called back close to midnight that night and apologized since he found the records, but told me that Yahir mentioned to me that I was to arrange for the tarp. Bold faced lie. They told me 3 stories that night trying to explain why nothing had been done, then told me they would get someone out ASAP to tarp my roof. I never heard from the mitigation team again. The restoration estimator did show up as scheduled, right on time, July 6 (over a week later) and I asked if he was prepared to do mitigation first. I knew the answer would be no, but they wasted my time so I wanted make a point. He said he would make a call to try to get it worked, but I politely asked him to leave and mentioned I would be going to use another company.

I finally moved on to another contractor, Exterior Medics, and they had a tarp installed the same day I called. Customer service was night and day. I will never use Jenkins Restoration or recommend them to anyone.

Response from Jenkins Restorations

"Jenkins Restorations offers our sincere apologies to [Removed member name]. Our poor communication regarding the work at her residence during a difficult time added unneeded stress. During storms the communication process that typically works flawlessly to notify contractors of what work they are authorized to perform on a residence can become stressed and conflicting messages are sometimes sent. In this case it resulted in a crew that wasn’t able to execute the services that [Removed member name] requested completed first due to not being authorized or equipped to go on a roof. While this started a chain of events that led to confusion we should have done a better job explaining the circumstances to [Removed member name] and how we were working to assist. Our goal is to serve in the same manner we would want our families served. We humbly apologize."

Still going, unfortunately. Like others, USAA said I could go through Jenkins, which seemed easier than having to manage a bunch of contractors myself. Unfortunately, due to horrible customer service, you end up having to manage a bunch of contractors yourself.
Someone from Jenkins came out to take an estimate. He was late, which was a sign of things to come. Every step was handled poorly with poor communication. Days were wasted at every point. Jenkins gives themselves a very generous schedule to finish work on, which probably means they can waste time throughout the process and still finish "on schedule" when nothing goes wrong. In my case, one legitimate issue meant that all those wasted days have meant that I'll be at least a week past schedule by the time it is finally complete.
It took an extra week after I approved the work for him to schedule the pack out, since the project manager couldn't communicate with the subcontractors doing the moving. He would regularly reach out late at night and expect me to drop everything to miss work the next morning. He only came to my house once (to make the estimate), and was often impossible to reach, which complicated things with both myself and the subcontractors who couldn't reach him when needed. On multiple occasions my house was left completely unlocked without my receiving any notice because the subcontractors couldn't reach him and just left. I finally started leaving them notes so that they would call me directly, I couldn't trust that he would be reachable.
Finally, as mentioned, since everything is subcontracted out and the Jenkins rep only comes to your house once, it meant that he was regularly giving me timelines and projections that didn't match what was actually happening. We'll see when this project actually gets finished, but it ended up meaning I had guests sleeping on an inflatable sofa instead of in the guest bedroom I had planned a month ago when this started.
Given the double mark up I imagine you pay with Jenkins, I'd recommend going elsewhere.

The plumbing pipe had run through the ceiling of my basement. Jenkins came through and put some drywall up and they sanded it everything and they painted the whole room. They went above and beyond. I don't know if it was because I was a nice guy and bought them coffee and donuts every morning. They were very good. They had did a immaculate job. Just consistency, just beautiful. They did a great job with all of that.

My Insurance company, USAA, sent Jenkins out immediately to do restoration and repair. They were very timely and efficient including the carpet subcontractor and the movers who stored the furniture while the work was being done. We were very satisfied with the work and would not hesitate to use them again; hopefully not on another insurance claim. The price was negotiated with
the insurance company and all I paid was the deductible.

Took approximately 6 x months from start to finish, work is not bad, actually it is very good but it should not take 6 months to replace a front door, first 3 months, they ordered the wrong size and the contractor they hired tried to blame it on taking the measurements in the dark, although he took the measurements in broad daylight in front of me on a Saturday morning at 10 am. But I guess he didn't want to let his boss know. There was only damage to the frame and the door but they stated that it is best to replace the entire inset which includes the door, the side windows and the window across the top of the door, I thought that was overkill but my insurance company recommended them so I figured they knew what they were doing. The total cost came to just over $6700 dollars of which I had a $1000 dollar deductible. They actually know what they are doing but the time from start to finish in my opinion was unsatisfactory and then one of the contractors installed my French door handles upside down so the handle is actually pointing down towards the floor and then tried to convince me it is normal to do that, I told him to look at every house in the neighborhood and I guarantee you won't see any doors with their French handles pointed down. Of course he corrected the problem.

Don't get me wrong, Jenkins may actually be a good company and the Program Manager was very helpful in assessing my concerns and responsive but they need to seriously re-evaluate the sub-contractors they are using to do the work.
