Zee locksmith is specialized in all types of locks for your home doors, windows, closets, safes. Zee locksmith installs and repair locks and keys. If you lost keys, want to re-key, make new key, break or open any lock just let us know.

"The person who showed up at my house was awesome, but it wasn't Zee's locksmith. It was Metro Locksmith. That is fine, but that wasn't communicated with us. Also they indicated they would be at our house in an hour, but it took over 2 hours. Again, I would highly recommend Metro Locksmith since they were the ones who actually did the work, not Zee's. I gave 4 starts because I didn't want a negative review to affect Metro, but I was annoyed by the lack of communication by Zee's."

Ed Snope is a Licensed Virginia Home Inspector, a Certified ASHI Inspector, a NADRA Certified Deck Inspector, and a member of NOVA ASHI, VAREI, and NRPP. "This is the second time we've used Atlas Home Inspection/Ed Snopes, and like the first time, we were extremely pleased with his thoroughness, attention to detail, professionalism and quick response with a fully-detailed written report. Ed was particularly instructive to our son who is purchasing his first home, pointing out what he was seeing, giving guidance on what could be expected in the future, and demonstrating patience when we asked follow-up questions. His report included annotated photographs and comments that allowed us to go back to the Sellers with informed reasons for asking for repairs and/or a price reduction. We highly recommend Atlas Home Inspection and Ed."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

If part of the key is protruding out of the lock, you can use a pair of needle-nosed pliers or tweezers to gently turn the key in the lock to open the door. If the key is fully inserted into the lock, you may also be able to use a key extractor to help turn the key into the unlocked position.

But if the key breaks off halfway into the lock or you simply can’t reach it to help engage the unlocking mechanisms, you should probably call a professional.

One of the best tools for removing a stripped bolt is a handy pair of locking pliers. Locking pliers can usually grip onto screws with a broken, rounded, or stripped head and lock in place so that you can loosen even the most stubborn bolt that would otherwise remain hopelessly jammed.

Lock bumping is a technique locksmiths use to quickly and quietly open a pin tumbler lock, typically found in most types of deadbolts. It involves inserting a specially crafted key, or bump key, into the lock and tapping or "bumping" it with a mallet or similar tool. The force applied causes the lock's pins to jump momentarily, allowing the lock to be turned and opened. Unfortunately, thieves also use this technique to break into homes. Luckily, products like a deadbolt strap will fortify your lock.

A keypad deadbolt, a lock requiring a code entered on a keypad entry, can be a convenient option for families with children coming in and out and needing access to the home. It can also offer an easy solution if you rent your home out, since you can easily change the code as needed. So, depending on your home entry’s needs, a keypad deadbolt may be worth the extra expense.

Expect to pay between $50 to $200 if you hire a locksmith to change your locks. That figure includes labor and the cost of basic hardware. The cost will naturally be higher if you plan to install more expensive locks, like smart locks, and if you need a lot of them.

Homeowners can save money by replacing locks themselves. A typical rekeying kit costs about $10 to $25. The only additional cost is purchasing new house keys, and those are no more than a few dollars per key. If you want to replace the locks on your own completely, the main cost is the price of the locks themselves. A standard knob-style lock starts around $25, while electronic locks and smart locks will run in the hundreds of dollars. The only additional tools you should need are a tape measure, screwdriver, and screws if they are not already provided.
