"The gentleman who came out and made my key at 9:00 pm which was a lifesaver. I live in Bracey Virginia and I had been trying to find a locksmith to come out and make a key after 10 calls to locksmith everyone of them said we donâ t serve that area even though the companyâ s I did call were in South Hill which is about 15 minutes from me. Luckily for me I found this locksmith and he was very friendly called when he was on his way and called when he arrived. I will definitely keep their number in my contacts and pass it along to my friends. I am very satisfied and grateful to them for being so professional and getting the job done. So thank you to the gentleman who came out and did this for me!"

"After calling several companies that said they would be several hours from the call, this company was able to be there quicker than the others. My daughter had locked herself out of the house and needed to get back in and we were not around to help her so we called this locksmith. He did the job quickly and my daughter was able to get on with her day. Thanks for being honest, quick, and reliable.

"Easy to make an appointment for a service call to have locks re-keyed. Technician arrived within given time, was extremely courteous and even fixed the bad installation of one lock. Forgot to mention Angie's list for a discount but will definitely use them again."

"I called Annandale Lock and Key Service to do lock-work at my rental property after my tenant?s key was stolen along with her wallet, which had items that ID?d her address.  It was imperative that the lock be re-keyed as soon as possible to prevent a possible burglary.
Chris found time to come the very day I called, and arrived on time.  He began work and soon discovered that the previous owner of my condo had damaged the lock.  Re-keying became a daunting process, requiring (I?m told by my tenant) approximately an hour and a half.    It was clear Chris fully understood how important it was to have the lock working with new keys before he left that evening.   Ultimately, his doggedness paid off, and he was successful.   Sorry ? can?t explain the issues involved, beyond a broken pin, but perhaps the age of the building and lock was a factor (40 yrs. old?).   At any rate, I felt very fortunate to get the job done with a charge for only a service call and a cylinder replacement.   Chris supplied new keys at no charge, and gave me my 10 % senior discount, which I much appreciated.
I would definitely use Chris?s services again and will happily recommend him to others.

"Excellent locksmith company! The response time was really fast! We set up a time to come out to change the exterior door locks on my new home. He did a fantastic job! The work was very clean and neat. He was thorough and explained everything. He was in and out within a reasonable time and was very respectful. Everything works great! I'd recommend this company to anyone looking for locksmith services in the area."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Yes. Most deadbolts purchased from a home improvement store include a step-by-step installation template that is easy to follow, even for novice DIYers. One of the most important steps for successful deadbolt installation is having the proper tools to start with and carefully measuring prior to any attempts at installation.

Proper door lock maintenance includes keeping the locking mechanism clean and clear of dirt, dust, and grime buildup, lubricating the lock annually, inspecting and tightening the lock regularly, and treating the door with care. If your maintenance reveals problems, it may be time to replace the lock or have a professional inspect it.

Rekeying is typically cheaper than replacing locks. Professional rekeying costs between $40 and $160, sometimes with an additional fee of $15 to $40 per lock. A locksmith's hourly rate averages around $75. If you do it yourself, a rekeying kit can cost as little as $10. In contrast, replacing a lock costs between $130 and $500, with an average of around $315, depending on the hardware and lock type. Rekeying is a simpler process that changes the key for your existing lock without replacing the hardware. It is a good option if you have a quality lock that works well, you've recently moved, you've lost a key, or you need a quick security upgrade. The best choice depends on the condition of your current locks.

When you take a key to a hardware store or a locksmith for copying, you can expect the key-cutting process to take as little as 30 seconds. The key copier will review your current key to decide on the correct blank. Then, your original key and the blank are inserted into a key duplication machine to cut an exact key copy. When it’s all said and done, you can have a new key in your hand in just a couple of minutes.

You might assume that having two locks on one door will offer more protection than only one lock, but there may not be an advantage. While there’s nothing wrong with having two locks if you feel it’s best for your living situation, rest assured having one high-quality deadbolt installed correctly will offer a high level of protection.
