"Mr. Michael Brown, proprietor and plumbing expert, replaced two toilets, fixed a third (water supply valve and tank innards) AND installed a new water pump within our crawl space in less than an afternoon and within his time and cost estimate. Work was clean and performed efficiently and conscientiously. I would recommend Mr. Brown without hesitation and have additional projects lined up for him."

"This company went above and beyond working to get us water without digging a new well as other companies suggested. I will hire for any and all plumbing I may have in the future because I know they will do the job right and not walk away until completed."

"I bought the handyman for a day for $425 deal. The handyman was scheduled to be here at 7:30a.m. and he was in the driveway at 7:25a.m. (that's when I noticed so he might have been here earlier). We went through a list of everything I wanted done, and he got all but one thing done. The one thing turned out to be a job that will require more time and materials then we had, so I'm asking for a separate quote for it. Many of the items were inspection issues with my newly bought house and I feel much better knowing that pretty much all of them are done. Would recommend and will use again.

"VKB did a great job and for a good price. Calvin was great at designing the bathroom we wanted, and Erik guided the project very well through completion. The workers were very skilled and courteous. We are very happy with our VKB bathroom."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

If nothing is coming out of your faucet, you could have frozen pipes, a clogged faucet, or your water supply could be shut off. First, check your shut-off valves. If it's a hot sunny day, you can rule out frozen pipes and look closer at your aerator for signs of mineral deposits. Removing the aerator and cleaning it out can often return water flow. If temperatures are below freezing, you may have frozen pipes. Knowing what to do when pipes freeze is essential for thawing your pipes and preventing them from bursting.

The diverter valve in your bathtub is responsible for diverting water between your tub spout and your shower head. If water comes out of both at the same time, you have a faulty diverter valve. You can have a plumber replace this for you, or you can replace it yourself if you have some experience working with plumbing fixtures.

Problems with a damaged handle or valve cartridge can result in a leaking faucet that won’t turn off completely. The faucet may also be rusty or corroded, which can prevent the faucet from turning the water off all the way. A leaky faucet can cause issues beyond the annoying dripping sound. It also wastes water and can be an indication that something else is wrong with the system, so fix a leaky bathtub faucet as soon as possible.

No, shower valves and cartridges are not universal. They must match and typically come from the same manufacturer. Mixing and matching different brands is unlikely to work and can cause issues like leaks or malfunctioning faucets. To find the correct replacement, check the old valve or cartridge for a brand name, model number, or serial number. If you cannot find this information, contact the manufacturer or check their website to determine which parts are compatible.

Tipping is not required when hiring plumbing professionals. The rate provided in your plumbing quote is intended to cover all of the labor required to get the job done. However, you may consider tipping any extra hands hired to help with cleanup, haul away old fixtures, or repair drywall that was affected by the project.
