"Mr. Michael Brown, proprietor and plumbing expert, replaced two toilets, fixed a third (water supply valve and tank innards) AND installed a new water pump within our crawl space in less than an afternoon and within his time and cost estimate. Work was clean and performed efficiently and conscientiously. I would recommend Mr. Brown without hesitation and have additional projects lined up for him."

"This company went above and beyond working to get us water without digging a new well as other companies suggested. I will hire for any and all plumbing I may have in the future because I know they will do the job right and not walk away until completed."

"I purchased two appliances from Sterling Appliance, and I was very
pleased with their services. My first visit was mostly a fact-finding
one, and the sales person who helped me (Deanna) did an excellent job
answering my questions and making recommendations. After shopping for
appliances at the big box stores and encountering people who knew
absolutely NOTHING about the appliances they were selling, this initial
conversation was a breath of fresh air. I also welcomed the opportunity
to support a local business. I wish I had known about Sterling
Appliances sooner. I certainly will buy all of my appliances from here
moving forward. I'm done with the clueless sales people at the box
stores.  The pricing here was competitive for both my dishwasher and my
range. The fridge I did end up buying elsewhere as it was 40% off, but I
am very pleased with my experience here based on value and the
knowledgeable staff.

To find a leak in a small pool, place a few drops of food coloring in a random area. If the food coloring flows out, you've found your leak. However, this can be time-consuming and impractical in larger pools. The best option is to hire a pool repair specialist with ultrasonic equipment.

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.

No, vinegar won't hurt PVC pipes. While vinegar is acidic, it’s not caustic enough to damage PVC. Pouring baking soda and vinegar down your drains is a great DIY solution for clearing minor clogs. If the problem isn’t resolved with vinegar and baking soda, it’s likely time to call in a pro. Avoid using more caustic solutions like drain cleaners, as these will damage PVC pipes, especially if there’s a clog.

Under normal circumstances, you don’t need to turn interior water off if it’s cold outside. But if you plan to be away during cold weather for more than a day, turning off the water can help prevent freezing and burst pipes. If you lose heat, turning off the water can help to keep pipes from freezing as well. You should turn off exterior pipes for sprinklers or outdoor irrigation for the season once temperatures begin to fall in the late fall and early winter.

You can buy a sealant spray for a leaking copper pipe, but it’s not a permanent solution and isn’t usually a good idea. For the best adhesion, you should drain the pipe, let it dry completely, apply the spray, and wait for it to dry before turning the water back on. Even with proper technique, a sealant spray is a temporary fix, so you should only use this technique in the interim to prevent water damage if you’re waiting for a more permanent fix.
