"These people are prompt! Accommodating and priced fairly. I was not happy with the noise of filling the toilet. They were at my home within half an hour. The replaced a part with a quieter part that they went and purchased. All at there own expense! Love them!"

"They were polite, professional and worked very hard on our bathroom remodel. I believe the demolition of our old shower was much worse(harder) than was antcipated but they just did the job (excellant) with no complaints. We will gladly reccommend them for plumbling and remodelling ."

"It was around 9pm on a Friday night. We called and left a message with an answering service. Brad had called back to talk to us and got to our house a little over an hour from our first call. Brad was very professional. He never made us feel like we were intruding on him which might be a problem with some people being after hours and all. It turned out he needed to pull the toilet to get to the clog. The charges were reasonable too. I expected it to be a lot more especially with the after hours fee ($99.00) but it was still less then I was expecting. I was expecting close to $300 but it was one $225. Well worth getting our toilet back before Monday. I would definitely recommend them.

"Myself, 2,000 miles distant, helping a disabled former caregiver of my deceased mother, am grateful for the excellence of Mitch, who promptly corrected the incompetent blockage of the toilet inflicted by people dispatched by the "AnyHour" company. That company had left their snake blocking all, claiming removal so difficult as to require $5 k, or $3.5 k at minimum. Mitch, in a snowstorm, solved things for $1,500. It was a great relief, after over 3 weeks, that the disabled woman in rundown house of one toilet, was finally able to flush wastes, not put in garbage can. Myself, faraway and relatively poor, wonder if a lawyer or public agency could get the "Any Hour" company to pay some $'s -- including for disabled woman's money-stressed family who have now upended their lives, moving the woman and her two cats cross country with unclear outcomes."

"I had a great experience with Upfront Drains Heating and Air Conditioning. They provided a free quote for my project. Since I was having a new toilet installed, I was given the type of toilet that I would need. So, I purchased it, and Randy picked it up from Lowes and promptly came to install it. He was always courteous, professional and friendly. He answered my questions and seemed to be quite knowledgeable. Randy was efficient in removing and then installing the new toilet. He hauled away the old fixture and cleaned up after himself. Before he left, I tested the toilet, and it works much better than the previous one. Everything went quite smoothly. I appreciate his knowledge, skill and professionalism. I am very pleased."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Yes, frozen pipes can cause a toilet to stop working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which can lead to two main problems. First, the supply line to the toilet tank may be frozen, which prevents the tank from refilling with water after you flush. Second, the drain pipe itself can freeze, blocking water from flushing away. As a temporary solution for a non-refilling tank, you can manually add water, but this is not a long-term fix. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try pouring warm water into the toilet bowl or tank and then flushing, as the warm water may help thaw the ice blockage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to unfreeze the affected pipes to restore your toilet to full functionality.

The first step to clearing the air in a line is to locate the cause. This is usually a blockage in either the drain or the venting system. Once you clear the issue, flush the system by actually flushing the toilets repeatedly. This should allow the trapped air to escape, thus clearing the lines. Don’t be surprised if there is increased bubbling as the air makes its way through the system.

If you notice water leaking down the side of the bowl or tank and you don’t notice any cracks in the porcelain, the odds are that it’s condensation. If you notice water around the base of the toilet, this points to a leak. Check for loose bolts. A sewage odor may also indicate a broken toilet flange.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.

While gasket-sealed PVC flanges are the type most commonly found in homes, flanges come in a range of different materials, including copper, brass, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum, that pros sometimes secure with glue. If this is the case in your bathroom, the replacement is a job better left to the pros.
