"Cade was very accommodating and friendly. He came when he said he would for estimates and the gutter replacement was done correctly. Had a problem above the new gutter on the edge of the roof from winter snow a few months later and he again came and fixed that problem quickly. I would highly recommend using Reel Good Gutters for your gutter needs and roofing needs."

"We live in a condo that hires Superior for gutter service. The gutter on our private patio roof is our responsibility and badly needed cleaning. There were even dandelions growing in it! Wesley sent a wonderful young man who was competent, courteous, and did an excellent job! Thank you Wesley for an excellent company, crew, and very customer oriented attitude! The name Superior is very fitting."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

Yes. Excessive pitch in gutters can cause water to flow too rapidly, leading to a decrease in the gutter's water-holding capacity; consequently, during heavy rainstorms, water may awkwardly splash outside the gutters. Ideally, you should aim for a quarter-inch of gutter slope for every 10 feet of gutter run. However, it's important to note that this guideline may vary depending on your home's structure and the type of gutters being installed.

Frequently, when water flows over gutters, it indicates a potential clog, necessitating cleaning. For instance, if a twig becomes lodged in the downspout, it can lead to a traffic jam, causing more leaves and sticks to accumulate. Another potential issue is an incorrect pitch, as gutters should channel water toward the downspout. If you observe water overflowing the end cap or leaking through it, it suggests that your gutters are improperly tilted.

The best way to seal gutters is with a combination of waterproof roofing cement and silicone gutter sealant. This powerful duo works to prevent water from escaping through holes and cracks while allowing for breathability. While you can use polyurethane sealants, silicone sealants tend to be more flexible when it comes to climate. Silicone is UV-resistant and bonds well to many surfaces. However, polyurethane sealant bonds better with wood.

Downspouts channel water from your roof and gutters into the ground following a specific route so water doesn’t accumulate around your house’s foundation. Without a downspout, the standing water will wash away material and disrupt the soil, leading to foundation erosion. The standing water will also form ice around your house during cold weather, causing a safety hazard.

Yes, gutter repair is almost always worth the investment. Some homeowners believe that gutter repairs are only to improve the home’s curb appeal, but gutters play a pivotal role in protecting your foundation from damage and structural instability, and they also prevent water damage to your soffits, fascia, roof, and exterior walls. You will pay an average of around $400 to have your gutters professionally repaired, but it’s worth it even for the peace of mind of knowing that one of your largest investments is adequately protected from the elements.
