Did a great job. On time and efficient. Door works better than ever.
very patient with my decision process. Unlike other companies that sell
entry doors, Price's provided a wide range of options for door styles
and doorglass, and all of this at a price far below other companies. It
was for those reasons that I chose to purchase my door from Price's. I
understood at the time that I was choosing price and options over
quality, but I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for a good
option that falls somewhere between buying a door at a hardware store
and customizing a door from a high-end company.
The installer reeked of cigarette smoke but he was very friendly and personable. I made the mistake of not inspecting the work before the installer left. After he left, I discovered that there was some minor damage to one of the screw holes on the newly installed door frame. I'm not terribly picky about these sorts of things, but it was a brand-new door and the damage was readily apparent to anyone standing outside the front door. I called and mentioned it to the person in charge of entry doors (Craig) and he was quite annoyed with my call. He lectured me for not asking the installer to fix it before he left, and grudgingly agreed to have someone come out and fix it "in a week or two." It became apparent to me that this was one of those situations that would require me to follow up (nag) every few days if I wanted it fixed. I ultimately decided it would just be easier to pay the painter to fix it.
The painter they referred me to (an independent contractor; not an employee) came out for an estimate but never followed up. Tried to call back but number disconnected. Had to find my own painter.
Overall I would still recommend because of price and the variety of options available, but it's definitely not 5-star service. The person answering the phones sounds annoyed every time she answers the phone, and Craig was borderline rude during my 3-4 conversations with him. The sales rep and installer were both friendly and helpful. Other than the minimal damage to the door frame, I am happy with the installation and have had no problems.
They did have some issues but they were very responsive in making it right. On one of the doors (for some reason) the cable was jumping a spool and they came out and fixed it right away. The next time I talked to Steve, he said they wanted to replace BOTH the spools so it wouldn't happen again. No extra charges.
And again, they came when they promised, something that almost every other contractor failed miserably at.
Update: We have had a repetitive problem with one of the two doors. Early on, they were very responsive, but the last time they have actually been quite poor (not sure if they've had personnel changes or what it is). Either way, I was left with an useable door for a whole week, and lost a half a dayfrom work when they said they would come but never called when something else came up (they apologized after I called).
So sadly, they have gone downhill in my eyes (but only back to the default level of most contractors).
