"The installation of the shutters went well.  Maria and Elena work in the office.  They handle the phone calls and were a pleasure to work with.  Felix was the installer and he was very knowledgeable and professional.  Felix and an assistant showed up at the scheduled day and time and everything was installed as planned.  There were no problems with the original installation and all shutters worked as advertised.

"Steve's customer service and knowledge won Proline the bid. After requesting a quote, he was in touch with us immediately and even squeezed in a site visit the very next day. We were nervous about painting melamine cabinetry (not an easy material to cover), but Steve patiently walked us through the process, explaining every step. Not only was he knowledgeable and communicative from start to finish, his bid was was one of the most competitive. The team which came to complete the work was as studious and professional as the guy who sold the work, which is a rarity. They were on time, polite, kept everything clean, and did an overall phenomenal job. We were so happy with the cabinets that we immediately hired them for a second job in the backyard that we had been putting off. I would use them again without hesitation."

"Reliable Hurricane Solutions recently installed shutter panels on all the windows of my home. I am very satisfied with their work. The installation was professional and timely. The owner, Geremiah Roulston, took special care to insure that each panel was correctly aligned with the individual window; adding extra hardware, as needed, to secure a tight fit. The panels are of good quality, sturdy, yet light enough to handle easily; making hurricane protection simpler as well as secure. i would highly recommend this company for any shutter installation work you might need."

"Sergio came quickly to help us when the a/c pan overflowed. He cleaned the drain lines, repaired sheetrock and painted ceiling. Also replaced a faucet and installed a doggie door. Great work and good value."

Window Shutters questions, answered by experts

Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.

Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.
