"I absolutely love my new fence. Thank you Texas Fence. I was not sure who to have install my fence. I found by researching Texas Fence that they have been in business for twenty years, are a member of the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating, and had wonderful reviews. Adriana Medina (sales consultant) came and took measurements. She listened to what I wanted in my new fence and made a few suggestions. She was very easy to talk to and knowledgeable about fences. Jose Garcia and his helper (fence installers) took down the old fence and put up the new fence. Jose put up a cedar board on board fence, made three walk through gates, and a double wide gate. Jose and his helper did a fantastic job. You can tell they take pride in their work. Les Perkins (project manager) answered any questions I had about the project. Dave Malcom (fence technician) came and did a little fine tuning. He also came up with a clever way to hide the 1 inch gap in the double wide gate that I could see into the backyard. I know that wouldn't bother anyone else, but it bothered me. Now, thanks to Dave, it's perfect. I would definitely recommend Texas Fence. I'm very pleased with my new fence."

Small jobs welcome

"It is difficult to get fence contractors to do small jobs like replace the side gate. No job is too small for Brian. He is busy but he makes the time to come out & meet you if the timing works but if not he will just prepare the quote. I appreciate how open , honest & friendly Brian was in our discussions. I chose Brian over other quotes though his was not the cheapest because of his personality. Kindness. He helped me replace a picket in the back fence and nail down some gaps cheerfully. Brian & Regis have great work ethics and they finish the job quickly. They took just 2 mornings finishing up before noon and clearing up. Another neighbor came by to make inquires and I hope Brian got the job. I will recommend Brian to my friends and I will work with him again if I need to replace the back fence."

"Flawless!! My wife and I purchased 5 acres in the country and were on a very tight budget for fencing..... Eric came out and provided the best quote for the scope of work and was granted the job. Not only did he build a quality fence but he also cleared the fence line to keep the new fence protected from future damage. If you need any fence work done we highly recommend you call Discount fence and Home Service!"
Shadow box fence
Structurally sound and reliable but simple. This style is constructed of quality cedar wood or just pressure treated wood for the more inexpensive way to go for this style fence. All boards are typically installed on one side.

"I would highly recommend Rodolfo Fence Company to anyone that needs a new fence. Rodolfo is very professional. He does everything that is in the contract. His crew was very professional. They took down the old fence and loaded on their truck. The fence was installed in one day and looks great. His prices are competitive. Great clean up. The only thing left in my back yard was a new fence. I want to mention the one problem that did occur, but was handled immediately and very professionally. I was impressed. A window glass near one of the fence post that was being removed was accidentally broken. We were notified as soon as it happened. His crew notified Rodolfo what had happened. He promptly took steps to get the window replaced. He was unable to get someone that day to come and replace the glass. He made a cover for the window and installed it. The next morning the glass company come to my home and replaced the glass. Perfect. Overall, I think this is a very honest company. I definitely would do business with them again."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Glass has one of the longest lifespans of any fencing materials, lasting anywhere from 10 to 30 years on average. Just how long your glass fence lasts depends on several factors, including how well you maintain your fence, the climate, and the type of glass you use.

If you live somewhere with severe weather like hail, tornadoes, or hurricanes, expect your glass to have a shorter lifespan. Pool glass is one of the thickest tempered glass materials and may last longer than other options—especially compared to laminated glass.

Aluminum is among the longest-lasting fencing materials, with a lifespan of 30 to 50 years or more. One of the reasons it lasts so long is because aluminum is highly resistant to rust and corrosion. You can help prolong its lifespan by keeping it free of vegetation and cleaning it every few months with a hose and mild soap.

The most durable metal for a fence is wrought iron. With proper care, a wrought iron fence can last for centuries. This means regular resealing to stave off rust and corrosion, especially in coastal climates with salty sea air. In these environments, chain link and corrugated fencing tend to stand up better to the elements with fewer maintenance needs.

Typically, a fence requires one to two coats of stain. The exact number can vary depending on the porosity of the wood. For specific guidance, it's best to check the manufacturer's instructions. After applying the first coat and letting it dry completely, you can assess the finish. If it appears patchy, uneven, or you want a more saturated color, a second coat is recommended. An extra coat can also help cover lap marks.

There are two things you can do to make a fence replacement easier—but keep in mind that easier doesn’t mean better. First, you can use a jack or some other type of machinery to pull the post out of the ground. If that’s not available, a digging bar can help.

Second, you can backfill the hole with gravel rather than creating a concrete footing. Keep in mind, gravel is less secure. You should only use it if you’re installing a lightweight fence or have heavier, clay soil.
