"I CANNOT say enough good things about Tecton. Aaron Utter and his team were incredibly patient and catered to every ask on this project, bringing our dream patio to life. He pays attention to every detail and ensures it's done accurately, even if that meant doing the masonry himself folks. We don't like our new living space... we love it. I highly recommend Aaron as a Mason, an honest contractor, and as an all-around good human. Instead of putting extra money in his pockets, he makes recommendations for you per YOUR budget, not his. 10/10 and more than 5 stars are deserved. Dreaming up another project in 3, 2, 1..."

"Omar was very knowledgeable and worked with us to make sure we got a wall that looked good and would last. He also helped with a few other small masonry repairs around our house. Will definitely use again."

"I love this is a family business that has been in business successfully for a long time. That says a lot. James was so professional, honest, and took his time to check out all the work to be done and to answer any questions I had. He was reassuring and thorough. Their job was to do a lot of repairs on cracking mortar and for loose or missing mortar. When the work was done, I had a hard time finding where I had needed the repair work because James was so precise in matching the color. The crew did an amazing job, very skilled. I never thought I would be so excited about masonry, but I am because of the skills and craftsmanship of this company. 100% recommended. ."

"i would like to start off by saying, I was a little hesitant to get our foundation worked on. Our house is on the older side and I was worried what problems would arise if we had work done to it. Justin Tucker came out and let us know the foundation and sunk about 2 inches. He gave us different options and which option would be best. The ladies I talked to on the phone were very professional and friendly, she got us on the books right away and was able to work with my schedule The crew showed up first thing in the morning, we went over what they would be doing again and they got to it. They told us it would be an all day job. Around 3, the supervisor called said they were finishing up. Got to the house, he walked me through everything they did, what was adjusted and that there were no problems!! it was a wonderful experience and I'm glad we decided to go with pinnacle. I would highly recommend them to anyone with foundation problems. I was giving several different contacts during the job and for after, if we had any questions or concerns. 10/10 for the whole experience!!"

"Rudy was prompt and quick to respond to my initial request. He quickly assessed the work to be done and quoted a price. The day the work was to be performed he showed up on time and completed the job as promised. The work was very well done. The new tree wells match the stone work of the previous ones. They look much better too. He and his team also patched the divider walls around the flower bed and replaced a missing brick. Very pleased with the job and would definitely call him for future masonry work."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

A fireplace hearth is a fireproof flooring material that extends out from the base of the fireplace and into the room. Hearths can be made of brick, ceramic, marble, limestone, and more. A hearth serves the purpose of decreasing the fire risk in the area directly around the fireplace. If flying embers hit carpet or wood, they’ll spark and create a fire. But if they hit something like tile or granite, they’ll simply go out.

Initially, brick staining is not cheaper than painting. However, while it has a higher up-front cost, it may be more cost-effective in the long run. Brick stain can last for 20 years or longer, compared to paint, which usually starts to peel away in three to five years.

It’s called cobblestone because it’s made of stones that are “cobbed” together. A cob is a term that refers to rounded lumps. Originally, cobblestone streets were made from pebbles and stones gathered from riverbeds that had been rounded over time by the passage of water. The term has nothing to do with a cobbler, which is the term for someone who makes and fixes shoes.

You should use cement for a chimney crown. The purpose of the chimney crown is to protect the mortar below from water damage and the effects of weather. For this reason, chimney crowns should only be made using cement. When repairing a crown, use caulks and sealants designed for cement repair rather than mortar repair.

No, it’s not recommended to attach shutters to brick without drilling. Brick is dense and built to last, so adhesives and shortcut methods don’t usually cut it. Even heavy-duty glue struggles to hold up over time—especially against wind, moisture, and temperature changes. Most no-drill options are made for materials like vinyl or wood, not solid masonry. Skipping the drill might seem easier, but it puts your shutters—and anything below them—at risk. For a secure, lasting install, drilling is the way to go. It takes more effort up front, but the result is safer and more reliable.
