"I have a friend that is just now going through the process of finding out just what needs to be done and collecting bids. Since we had used Accurate I just thought I would check out to see if they were still in business since we had our work done in 2006 when we had 38 piers installed. They did a fantastic job and I would highly recommend them. And I am going to tell her to check with them."

"Ben did a thorough evaluation of my foundation. He recommended that no repairs were necessary at this point, but offered to reevaluate the situation after 3 months. Ben used technical equipment during his evaluation. I will hire Ben if repairs are needed in the future. Very honest!"

"Genaro and his crew were quick, honest, and very professional. I told him what kind of slab I needed and he gave me a few good ideas that I ended up going with. "Mike L, David L, and Elias V from the San Antonio area came down and did my foundation repair. They were very good at what they do and very professional. I would highly recommend them! Thanks again guys for all your hard work! They had to install 17 piers and made it look easy. Cleaned up and can barely tell they were here. Thanks, Steve"

"The followup visit went great. The technician was very professional and courteous. The warranty they have is excellent, and they will do whatever needs be done to get a house leveled out. In my case, our house continued to settle after they had done some work, and they are out to followup and to determine what additional leveling needs to be done to get the foundation level. I've used this company for several years now and have been very pleased with their sincerity, professionalism, and perseverance in getting things done right and in a timely manner."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, concrete is significantly stronger than masonry, especially if the concrete pour includes reinforcements, like steel rebar. Concrete is a uniform material that can withstand compression, sheer force, and tensile force as long as it’s reinforced. Masonry involves the use of mortar or grout to connect individual building materials, like brick, stone, or tile. Mortar and grout are also reasonably strong and resist compression well, but they don’t come close to the strength of poured concrete.

Europe is a continent made of many individual countries with a history of city life. In these cities, dirt roads were unsanitary and often shifted. The Ancient Romans started laying cobblestone streets in the 3rd century, which became an iconic feature of European cities. The durable and practical paving material proved to be extremely weather-resistant.

A fireplace is, by definition, an enclosed space where you burn wood or other fuel for the purpose of generating light and heat. A firepit burns wood and is much less expensive to build, but they aren’t technically a fireplace as it isn’t enclosed. An outdoor oven—commonly outdoor brick pizza ovens—often uses wood as fuel, but its primary purpose is to cook food, and you’d rarely just burn wood inside them for warmth or aesthetic reasons.

Staining or painting brick isn’t something to do on a whim. Make sure you really want to live with stained brick, because once you apply the stain, it’s permanent. Sure, it will fade over time, but you can’t restore the brick to its natural tones after applying a stain or paint.

Cobblestone fell out of favor with the advent of motor vehicles. Asphalt and concrete are both much smoother surfaces allowing for a smoother ride. Asphalt is also much cheaper, especially for driveways. However, we didn’t stop using cobblestone altogether, and you can still see it as a decorative option in both homes, in parks, and in pedestrianized areas of cities.
