Customers say: Quality work

"Very happy wIth Breneks Plumbing. I needed to replace a major portion of my 36 yr old, 4-inch main sewer line. Tree roots had penetrated a pipe joint, and I also had standing water in a large low section, both of which have caused blockages in recent years. The estimate was done within a day after I contacted them, and the work was scheduled within two days and completed in one working day, as scheduled. Very happy with Tim, Greg, and the digging crew and the good attention to detail. They arranged for the utility markings ahead of the digging, and they protected my yard from a big mess with large sheets of plastic to hold the dirt while they had the ditch open."

"Trustworthy. Low cost. The plumber put on a new outdoor spigot without going into the wall, which American Home Shield told me a plumber would need to do. He also unclogged the dishwasher drain. The cost for both jobs performed in one visit came to $274--right before Christmas. Also, they only charge $35 for service calls, and they don't charge that fee if they actually do the work. They did do the work, so no service call fee was charged. WOW, WOW, WOW. I feared a $700 visit given what American Home Shield told me. I LOVE this company and will definitely use them again. Merry Christmas and many thanks, Show Plumbing. I'm going to tell all my friends about you."

"Lou Warren was very cordial, competent, and willing to share his plumbing knowledge. At my request, he performed our job on a quoted hourly rate. This allowed me to drain our old water heaters (a time consuming task) and disconnect them in advance. He made a fair Master Plumber rate for the reduced time he needed to do a quality installation. We have a quality installation at a fair cost."

"Excellent, timely and affordable service. Our water heater went out without warming but Joel can out and replaced it ASAP. He was much more affordable than the big name companies. Couldn’t be happier with the service and install. We had a clogged drain a few days later, called him up and of course he came out and worked diligently until it was resolved. I have already referred someone to Long’s and will continue to. I highly recommend them!"

"John did a great job fixing the leak in my bathroom. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and efficient. He quickly identified the issue, explained the repair, and fixed it properly. Everything was done right the first time, and the area was left clean. I would definitely recommend John for plumbing work."

French Drains questions, answered by experts

The drain pump will naturally make a standard operational and draining sound several times throughout your dishwasher cycle. If you hear abnormally loud sounds like scraping, grinding, or clicking, you may have food debris or a piece of glass stuck in your drain filter. Avoid dishwasher repair by always scraping food off your dishes and loading the racks correctly.

No, you should not see water in a sewer cleanout. If you do, it could indicate that you have a block or leak in your main sewer line—which can cause sewage to back up inside your home and potentially flood your yard. Your best bet is to call a local sewer cleaner if you notice any water or sewage around your cleanout.

Yes, chemical drain cleaners contain sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, both of which are not only dangerous to your health but also extremely caustic. Drain cleaners will corrode your pipes and could lead to destroyed drain lines, especially if the chemicals interact with the piping for long periods. Unfortunately, this extended interaction is likely if you’re dealing with a clog, as the drain cleaner will have just as much trouble as water does moving through your plumbing system.

If you're dealing with a clogged sink drain, you may be able to avoid removing the drain by using a plunger to dislodge the clog. While we associate plungers with toilets, they can do the same job with your sink drain. Be gentle, though, as forceful movements can push clogs further into your plumbing system and make them more difficult to remove. Additionally, make sure you’re using a sink plunger—with a flat bottom—and not a toilet plunger—which has a smaller bottom protruding from the larger flat piece.

If your washing machine drain is clogged, that isn’t a good sign. Unlike toilet drains or kitchen sink drains, there isn’t matter that is easily broken up with a plumbing snake, and more care is required. If you’re in an old house or have mineral-rich water, there could be a buildup inside the pipe. Either way, if the blockage isn’t obvious and doesn’t dislodge with a snake, you need to call a pro—otherwise, you risk damaging integral plumbing.
