"I contacted Ambiance Ponds fountains and Pools to inquire about a small service job that I had on an existing fountain. Jerry contacted me within minutes of the inquiry through Home Advisor. Much to my surprise, they came the same day. I needed an additional part that Jerry didn't have with him, so they came back the next day, completed the service and added a feature that I was excited to have. I don't usually take the time to review a company, but I felt it important to tell you that this is a man true to the other reviews on the Home Advisor site. Honest, trustworthy, dependable, knowledgeable, and kind. The price was reasonable and I am one happy customer."

"My above ground pool had not been clean since last fall. I searched for a pool cleaning service and found Lone Star pools. I spoke to Jose on Saturday and he asked to come and look at the pool. He gave me a good price for a one-time cleaning and he said he could start right then. He tested the water, added water to the pool and backwashed the filter. He then added the chemicals needed. Next he vacuumed out most of the leaves that had collected in the pool and scooped out the rest with a net. Finally he scrubbed all of the algae from the sides and bottom of the pool and the ladder going into the pool. He tested the water again and added some more chemicals. When he was done, the water was cloudy from the dead algae floating in it and particulates from leaves. He said the filter would do its work and it has. Now we have a sparkling clean pool where we had what was basically an above ground pond before. Jose worked ho*** ** the pool. He answered all my questions. He was professional, detail-oriented, respectful and friendly which is important to me. I highly recommend Lone Star pools to anyone who needs pool cleaning and wants a good job done!"

"The good side is that Mr. Fernandez showed up to quote the job without delay and the price was fair. He lived up to our agreement and did the work promptly and the finish product was good. The BAD side is that Mr. Frenandez did not use a drop cloth or take steps to protect the floors or wall. There was splatter from his work everywhere. I was disappointed in him for not taking basic precautions to prevent a mess."

"Doug was great. This is our second time working with him. He was easy to make contact with, quick to supply an estimate, and punctual to show up when he said he would. We worked with him on some low lying areas of our yard that we have struggled with and he came up with some ideas that we were happy with. He also installed a crushed granite dog run where our dogs had rutted out a muddy path. We are very happy with the results. Highly recommended."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

How many fish can call your pond home depends on the volume of the pond and the fish size. Your pond's filtration system also influences the number of fish that will thrive in a pond. A general rule of thumb is to have 1 inch of fish for every square foot in a pond that's 2 feet deep. Another rule of thumb you can follow is to have one koi fish for every 200 gallons of water or two goldfish for every 200 gallons.

Regularly clean pumps, remove debris, and monitor water levels to prevent algae growth and clogging.

Even if you empty your pond before the winter, there’s a good chance it will refill naturally. It’s ideal in most cases, then, to leave water in your pond and winterize it instead. This method will prevent ice damage and protect wildlife. Plus, it’ll lessen the steps required to reopen your pond in the spring.

To maintain your pond, you’ll need to occasionally clean your backyard pond, especially if you have koi fish. Test the water twice a week to make sure your fish have everything they need and always remove visible debris.

When deep cleaning your koi pond, transfer fish to a clean, uncontaminated container at least one foot deep, like a large bucket, tub, or kiddie pond. Fill the container with their existing pond water to avoid shocking them, and place the container in full or partial shade. When it’s time to reintroduce them into the pond, slowly add the new water to the container before adding the fish and container water back into the pond.
