"Jose Luis and Enrique were extremely professional and completed the work on time. The quality of their work was exceptional, and they made sure to clean up thoroughly after each project. They arrived as scheduled and were always reliable. I had. Few additional projects, and they handled them without hesitation- everything turned out beautifully. I. Would absolutely hire them again."

Customers say: Quality work

"We were very pleased with the finished small rock retaining wall. It looks better than we had expected. However it took a little longer than we expected. They had said 10 days, and of course that meant working days. One day they did not show up and so we called and eventually they called back and said they were having trouble with the company truck. Another day they did not show up and we called and they said that they were getting materials. However we very much like the final results of the work."

"Great communication! Great work in laying new zoysia grass! Also did superior work in significantly pruning two trees whose canopy was only allowing minimal sunlight to reach the ground. I am very happy with VAST's work"

"I needed some landscaping and driveway work done so I gave A1 a call. They came out quickly and evaluated the job and I had a quote the next day. They told me when they could start and a timeframe of when the job would be completed. I gave them the approval and it went exactly as planned. They kept me updated on the job and the communication was excellent as the job progressed. I was well pleased with the results and intend to use them in the future"

"Mark and crew did great. I am very happy with the outcome of these projects. I will be calling them again when I have another project come up. They were fair, honest, and had great communication."

Architects questions, answered by experts

While you will always work with a team of professionals at some point during your home build, homeowners with experience can take on some part of the process. Manage the initial brainstorm, brief writeup, and floor layout phase with minimal assistance before contacting a general contractor. And while you can purchase stock blueprints for some home designs, it's always best to speak with professionals when choosing one ideal for your property.

You should have an architect involved in your project from the very beginning. They’ll be able to direct your vision into workable plans, and they can advise you on potential problems right from the start. You may be able to save money by not using an architect, but larger projects will go much more smoothly with an experienced pro directing the process.

Open floor plans can come with drawbacks—mainly the lack of privacy and noise dampening. Walls act as an important barrier for traveling sounds, meaning in an open floor plan you could hear your dishwasher running while sitting in your living room. Storage limitations and separation of activities (for example, keeping the kid’s playroom away from the dining room) are other reasons some homeowners are opting out of an open floor plan.

Mid-century modern architecture was a popular home style throughout the U.S. from the 1950s to 1970s. Most homes feature a wide and symmetrical floor plan with low-sloped roofs and floor-to-ceiling windows. Its minimalism and balanced appearance are back on the home style scene, particularly when maximizing sunlight, airflow, and a blend with the home's natural surroundings.

Designing a building takes 2-6 months, depending on project size, required permits, and revisions.
