"We have used Affordable Air twice. We had a new unit installed in May of 2011, after the wonderful experience we had with Sam we knew immediately who we would call for our system when we had to rebuild our home. "The tech was very knowledgeable and skillful. He had to install the new blower fan into the existing fan housing, but he took the existing blower assembly (fan, motor, electrical, and housing) out to his truck in inclement weather to do the work. I offered up my garage, but he said that he would be fine out in his truck. From start to finish it could not have been more than 40 minutes. The blower unit runs and sounds like a brand-new install. Very quiet. Prior to the repair the blower sounded like a freight train passing through the house. Very happy and the cost was reasonable."

The difference between a home surge protector and an HVAC surge protector is that an HVAC surge protector is designed to protect the components inside your HVAC unit while a home surge protector is installed near appliances and meant to protect your entire home. There are three tiers of whole-house surge protectors, and they are more expensive to install than HVAC surge protectors.

To diagnose a bad HVAC or AC damper, assess the airflow from your vents. For a manual damper, close it, run your system, and check for airflow. If air is still coming through the vents, the damper is likely faulty and needs repair or replacement. For an automatic damper, turn on your HVAC system and monitor the airflow and room temperature. Signs of a problem include low airflow, a room that won't maintain its set temperature, or a drafty feeling. If you suspect a faulty automatic damper, you may need to hire a professional for repairs.

If possible, avoid placing furniture in front of a return air vent. A blocked air vent can cause your HVAC system to use more energy, which in turn can lower the life span of your unit and raise your energy bill. Furniture can also trap hot or cold air, damaging your furniture or appliances.
