They arrived right on time on the day of the appointment. All was well until the original guy that came out to the house told me that he didn't want to try to move my china cabinet. (It is of average weight for a traditional china cabinet.) He said he didn't notice it before, which was interesting because he had asked me to empty it. There are only two pieces of furniture in the dining room, so I'm assuming he forgot about the china cabinet. He wanted to leave the cabinet in place without refinishing under it. I expressed concern about the floor looking different where it wasn't refinished. Then he said the floor might get scratched if he moved it and asked me if I would be OK with that. I said "no" to that. He asked if I was ever going to move it, and pointed out that the floor couldn't be seen under the cabinet. I explained that the furniture might be moved, and that the contract indicated the entire entire floor was to be refinished. He left, explaining that the rest of the floor needed to cure before moving the cabinet, but promised that he would come back out to refinish under the cabinet "for free", but didn't seem to want to schedule a time to come back. I was supposed to call him later to ask for this last bit of the job to be done. Before he left, I suggested that the lambswool sliders that he had borrowed from me to slide my heavy couch across the floor could also be used to move the cabinet. Later that day, I noticed thin shiny streaks throughout the entire floor. The floor looked like it had scratches. The owner came back out to see it himself, was very nice, and sent the same two workers back out to do a second coat. The floor looked nice when they left, BUT THEY LEFT AGAIN WITHOUT REFINISHING UNDER THE CABINET, saying they would have to come back because they didn't have something they needed to do the job. IDK Not understanding when they were going to finish the job or why they didn't finish the job on the second visit, I decided to ask the owner directly. I texted the owner's phone and asked when they could come back out to finish the job. 9 days later, there was still no response. I texted again and asked for a reply. This is the response I received from the owner's phone. It is an exact quote with no missing words: "My guys are coming out next Wednesday. I cannot just spend gas time, and labor making multiple trips out, so this will be the last time. Please understand if my guys cannot move the cabinet safely, then you will have to hire professional movers." I texted back and asked if the owner really typed that response. I haven't gotten a reply as of today and it has been almost 3 weeks, so that is why I am writing this review. By the way, I moved the china cabinet myself using the sliders I had suggested they try. It took me about 5 minutes and didn't harm the floor. They finally came back and refinished under the cabinet as promised in our contract. The floors look nice, but it was a major hassle working with this company. The owner came by and gave us an estimate promptly and scheduled the work. We had to reschedule the date one time and they were more than accommodating. The applicator was prompt and would call me if he was running a bit late. The process took two days - exactly what they said it would. There is a odor due to the refinishing process materials involved. They ventilated during the application and it was not bad. He told us to run the bathroom exhaust fan overnight which we did. The odor is strong if you don't close the door and run the fan. The results were incredible. The bathroom tub looks brand new. The surround and vanity look great as well. You will need to get a tub mat that has no suction cups. Miracle method sells one for $20.00 + tax. I would use this contractor again. This is exactly why this review is rated highly. We had a couple of items in the cabinetry genre that needed attention. We informed him of our thoughts that we may put our home on the market and that we didn't want to go overboard on repairs and refinishes. After we showed him item 1, he indicated a particular repair process that we could cheaply and sufficiently perform on our own! (He even told us the method, the names of the product and where to go to buy and get further guidance.) Item number two was a huge money making opportunity for him. Refinishing a good amount of cabinetry. However, he assured us that it wasn't in horrible shape, and again gave us details as to how to fix our wood products. Item number 3 was wallpaper removal, wall painting and trim/door painting. He informed us that he is no longer in that business. So, in reality, we did not contract him for anything or pay him for anything. But he DID provide service to us. This is why I checked the yes box regarding services performed. We have not contracted him to perform any work, because he convinced us it wasn't necessary. Whaaaaat? Brad was truly professional and gracious. I immediately forgot the name of the products after he left and called him on the phone. He answered the question again for me. Then...two days later, he followed up with an email to see if we had tried the repairs, yet. What wonderful customer service. When I need something done in the cabinetry or wood furniture refinishing areas, I am calling Brad at The Finishers!!! I think you'd be pleased with the high level of customer service that Brad supplies.

Called Superior Finish based on excellent reviews on Angie's List. This was a great move on our part. Bob was easy to schedule and was able to arrive earlier after calling us due to a cancellation. Once he was able to clean the shower pan up he left it up to us whether to refinish it. It looked beautiful after cleaning so we just decided to skip the refinish. Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts
It is possible to refinish a table without stripping and sanding it by repairing small dents. You’ll use a gel stain, and then put on a wipe-on finish. The downside is this won't result in as smooth and as deep of a finish as if you had stripped the table. Also, any blemishes on your table will remain.
You can certainly seal butcher block countertops, but not permanently. Due to the nature of the materials, it will require resurfacing down the line. This is true no matter what you use to seal the countertop, including polyurethane and mineral oil. Polyurethane will last until the countertop is damaged in some way, and mineral oil should be reapplied every two to three months. To maximize the longevity of the polyurethane sealer, apply two coats.
Restoring furniture generally takes less time because the fixes involved are mostly surface-level cosmetic repairs. In most cases, a project like this will be completed in one to two days at most. By contrast, refinishing can take anywhere from several days to a couple of weeks because it requires sanding and treating damaged wood, adding a new stain, finish, or layer of paint, and drying time.
Chalk paint can be applied without sanding first. Keep in mind that while there are a lot of chalk paint color options available, there aren’t as many choices as latex or oil-based paint.
You can also learn how to paint furniture without sanding using a liquid deglosser, sometimes referred to as liquid sandpaper. This can remove any old paint, gloss, or varnish, without the need to manually sand. Apply the deglosser using a cloth, then wait for the chemical to penetrate through the surface. Once it soaks through, you should be able to wipe away the residue with a towel.
It is possible to refinish your own furniture, but it’s usually a good idea to leave the work to the professionals. Furniture refinishing often requires the use of paint stripper or solvents to remove existing finish, which can be dangerous to inhale. Additionally, it’s easy to make mistakes during the process that could permanently damage your piece, limiting its lifespan instead of extending it. Hiring a furniture refinishing professional is especially worthwhile for antique furniture, which often requires more delicate refinishing work.
