TOM DOESN'T FINISH HOUSES, HE FINISHES HOMES. Tom has over thirty years of experience in custom finish carpentry, stairs and home improvement. He understands the unique requirements for each job. Let us help you find the right solution for your next new construction or home-improvement project. Whether it is cabinets, a deck, custom shed or gazebo, you can rest assured that your job will be completed with professionalism and quality workmanship. Trim and molding is one of the best ways to give your home a little update. If you don't have crown molding in your home or need to replace yours, finding a carpenter is the best way to start. Moldings can open up a room and give it a classy and unique look. Add beauty and elegance to your home. Even small wood repairs or wood projects that you need, Tom can take care of that too. Wood means endless natural beauty and it takes an appreciation for that beauty to make a fine quality wood product. Carpentry is an art and custom cabinets, decks, sheds or gazebos can be created to meet your style and design specifications. Have one of the best carpenters in your area who will do their best to make your carpentry project into what you have been dreaming of. All of his work is guaranteed to meet your satisfaction. Many things have changed in the past two decades of new-home construction, but one thing has not: our commitment to quality, creativity and excellence. The difference between a craftsman and a worker is passion and attention to detail. We don't just do what we know, we do what we love. That makes all the difference. Tom Fuller is that kind of craftsman.

Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts

Ongoing maintenance of your leather furniture is the only way to prevent it from peeling and cracking. Real leather will peel and crack as it dries out. Leather conditioners are a great way to protect your leather furniture from drying out, and you’ll need to apply it about twice each year. It’s also a good idea to keep abrasive materials away from your leather to prevent cracking and peeling, including belt buckles, shoes, and multi-surface cleaners, especially those that contain alcohol.

If your wood stain is still rubbing off after the recommended drying time, it means the pigments didn’t soak into the wood properly and remain on the surface. There are a few possible causes, including applying the stain in hot temperatures, applying too much stain, or failing to wipe off excess before it dries completely.

Avoid using wood filler for structural repairs or areas with extensive damage. Wood filler is designed for cosmetic fixes like filling small holes, cracks, or surface imperfections, and it doesn't provide the strength needed for load-bearing repairs or large gaps. You also shouldn’t use wood filler in areas exposed to heavy moisture or extreme outdoor conditions unless it’s a product specifically rated for such environments. Wood replacement or a strong epoxy resin is a better solution for severe rot or structural damage.

If the scratch is large enough that it compromises the integrity of the wood, a wood filler probably won’t be enough to fix the problem. In that case, you might need to sand and refinish the entire floor or replace a board. If you do use a filler, use one that’s appropriate for the scratch. Water-based wood fillers work for small gaps or gouges, while epoxy has added strength to fill larger scratches and gaps.

Yes, there are several wood filler products on the market that look like wood. Your best bet is to take a cabinet door to your local hardware store to match the appropriate wood filler to your door. Some brands make filler that is masked to look like wood and can also be sanded, cut, stained, and painted.
