"Painted our entire downstairs areas in a short time and worked around our scheduling conflicts. Also did some fence work that we couldn’t be any happier with. Very reasonably priced and a hard worker. Hiring for other home repairs in the future. Small company and usually a two man team, so if you have a small to midsized project and you have the time, this is who to call."

"Haim came out and brought his fence man with him. They gave us several options and we decided to go with a stained cedar fence with two gates. The next week they showed up and while one part of the crew was tearing down the old fence, another crew was working on the new one. It took a few days, but we now have a beautiful stained cedar fence. Like the other times they never left debris in our yard, as they cleaned up every day after their work was done. We chose a wood lattice patio arbor. It was of the same stained cedar, and it's very rustic and we are looking forward to many days sitting under the arbor to escape the Texas sun. The thing about G.H. Construction, is they show up on time and work a full day. They are supervised and if we had any questions or concerns, they responded in short order and eased our concerns. We are so pleased we are considering siding on the house. You can be sure we will use G.H."

"Jarrod, the owner, was excellent to work with. I had a few estimates and he came out for a quote on a Monday and the work was finished by Friday. I had all the rotted wood replaced on the fascia boards and the entire chimney was replaced with Hardie Board. The work was done in 2.5 days. The two gentlemen that did all the work were courteous and through. The house looks fantastic."

"I cannot say enough good things about Moses, his lovely wife and the crew. They helped me picked the perfect colors, started when they said they would and finished within our limited timeframe. We purposly looked for any spots, over painting or oops and we cannot find a single one! Their work is absolutely amazing AND 1/4 what the other guy quoted! I would use them again, in fact Moses is going to my son's house tomorrow to quote some ceiling repairs. I'm sold!"

"Amazing customer service! We were thoroughly educated on what to expect and the painters didnâ t mind the questions on site when we would ask what was happening. And they went above and beyond helping find an exact stain that we wanted we tried what felt like a million stains and Robertoâ s patience through the process was amazing. We had a crazy timeline to move into our home and these guys moved heaven and earth to finish as quickly as possible! We absolutely love our cabinets and canâ t recommend Dallas Varsity Painting enough!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. If the surface has another covering or a different type of paint has been used previously, you won’t be able to paint it without removing the existing coating. Wooden decks benefit from painting as it helps to keep them watertight. Quality pool deck paints also help make the surface less slippery and less likely to gather mold and mildew or prematurely crack.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

You can use latex or acrylic paint outdoors. Although acrylic paint tends to last longer outside, it also costs more, so if you’re painting the outside of your house, for instance, latex paint is often a go-to option. However, acrylic will be your best choice if you want to spend some extra money for added durability.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.
