"Painted our entire downstairs areas in a short time and worked around our scheduling conflicts. Also did some fence work that we couldn’t be any happier with. Very reasonably priced and a hard worker. Hiring for other home repairs in the future. Small company and usually a two man team, so if you have a small to midsized project and you have the time, this is who to call."

"Haim came out and brought his fence man with him. They gave us several options and we decided to go with a stained cedar fence with two gates. The next week they showed up and while one part of the crew was tearing down the old fence, another crew was working on the new one. It took a few days, but we now have a beautiful stained cedar fence. Like the other times they never left debris in our yard, as they cleaned up every day after their work was done. We chose a wood lattice patio arbor. It was of the same stained cedar, and it's very rustic and we are looking forward to many days sitting under the arbor to escape the Texas sun. The thing about G.H. Construction, is they show up on time and work a full day. They are supervised and if we had any questions or concerns, they responded in short order and eased our concerns. We are so pleased we are considering siding on the house. You can be sure we will use G.H."

"Jarrod, the owner, was excellent to work with. I had a few estimates and he came out for a quote on a Monday and the work was finished by Friday. I had all the rotted wood replaced on the fascia boards and the entire chimney was replaced with Hardie Board. The work was done in 2.5 days. The two gentlemen that did all the work were courteous and through. The house looks fantastic."

"I cannot say enough good things about Moses, his lovely wife and the crew. They helped me picked the perfect colors, started when they said they would and finished within our limited timeframe. We purposly looked for any spots, over painting or oops and we cannot find a single one! Their work is absolutely amazing AND 1/4 what the other guy quoted! I would use them again, in fact Moses is going to my son's house tomorrow to quote some ceiling repairs. I'm sold!"

"Amazing customer service! We were thoroughly educated on what to expect and the painters didnâ t mind the questions on site when we would ask what was happening. And they went above and beyond helping find an exact stain that we wanted we tried what felt like a million stains and Robertoâ s patience through the process was amazing. We had a crazy timeline to move into our home and these guys moved heaven and earth to finish as quickly as possible! We absolutely love our cabinets and canâ t recommend Dallas Varsity Painting enough!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It is definitely worth sanding a deck to ensure the wood absorbs new stain. Sanding a deck removes the outer layers of aging wood, allowing the stain to penetrate. It also gives a fresh look to the entire surface as part of the deck refinishing process. Without sanding, your stain or sealant is less likely to absorb into the wood. While sanding a deck is a time-intensive project, the rewards are noticeable and long-lasting.

Choosing the right product involves understanding deck material, desired finish, and local weather conditions. Opt for high-quality, weatherproof formulations ensuring long-term durability and appearance retention.

Two coats of stain are ideal for the best protection and aesthetic appeal. However, if your decking is made of particularly dense hardwood, you may only need one coat. If you want an intense color, two coats are ideal.

To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.

No, it is not okay to paint over rotted wood. Painting over rotted wood will not address the underlying issue and can trap moisture, leading to further decay. Properly addressing the rotted wood by removing and replacing or repairing the damaged areas is necessary before you can even consider painting.
