"Haim came out and brought his fence man with him. They gave us several options and we decided to go with a stained cedar fence with two gates. The next week they showed up and while one part of the crew was tearing down the old fence, another crew was working on the new one. It took a few days, but we now have a beautiful stained cedar fence. Like the other times they never left debris in our yard, as they cleaned up every day after their work was done. We chose a wood lattice patio arbor. It was of the same stained cedar, and it's very rustic and we are looking forward to many days sitting under the arbor to escape the Texas sun. The thing about G.H. Construction, is they show up on time and work a full day. They are supervised and if we had any questions or concerns, they responded in short order and eased our concerns. We are so pleased we are considering siding on the house. You can be sure we will use G.H."

"Jarrod, the owner, was excellent to work with. I had a few estimates and he came out for a quote on a Monday and the work was finished by Friday. I had all the rotted wood replaced on the fascia boards and the entire chimney was replaced with Hardie Board. The work was done in 2.5 days. The two gentlemen that did all the work were courteous and through. The house looks fantastic."
Pure white brick, iron ore trim. Sherwin Williams colors.

"Thomas stained my 500 foot long 8' cedar fence. First, he power washed it and then applied the stain. He also fixed both of my gates. Thomas is very professional, attentive and conscientious. Communication was excellent. He did a wonderful job on my fence and I would definitely use him again. Check him out."

"Genesis Painting representative Moses Clarke came out to our home right on time and got straight to work. He helped us pick the perfect colors for our master bedroom. He and his crew did a fantastic job. When they were finished they left everything clean and spotless. We had a marvelous experience with Genesis Painting. Great customer service but most important great painters.

"Amazing customer service! We were thoroughly educated on what to expect and the painters didnâ t mind the questions on site when we would ask what was happening. And they went above and beyond helping find an exact stain that we wanted we tried what felt like a million stains and Robertoâ s patience through the process was amazing. We had a crazy timeline to move into our home and these guys moved heaven and earth to finish as quickly as possible! We absolutely love our cabinets and canâ t recommend Dallas Varsity Painting enough!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.

The plastic in composite decking boards protects them enough that you do not need to paint them to prevent warping. In fact, painting composite decking voids the warranty of some manufacturers. Painting can also increase maintenance on the deck, as you must paint regularly to keep it looking its best.
