They had said nothing about wanting to be paid to bid when they made the appointment the week before. I was totally shocked at their attitude. I'm renovating my home and have had many companies come out to bid my windows, the replacement of my roof, remodeling my master bath, and new countertops for my kitchen. A+ Glass was the only company who wanted to be paid to bid out of over a dozen other business's in town for all the work I'm having done. It was my impression that as soon as they heard that I was taking bids that they were no longer interested in competing. Looks to me like they know that when they're compared to any other glass company in town they wouldn't come close and thus wanted to be paid to show up because they knew they wouldn't be getting the job via competitive bidding. It strikes me that this type of business attitude is exactly what Angies List was set up to expose. Funny thing is that I've used this company 5 or 6 times over the last 10 years from back when they were next to the VFW hall and they were never like this. When I called in last week they looked me up in their computer and found me in their database so they should have known I HAD been a good customer over the years. I guess they're under new management or new ownership. I own commercial and industrial properties around Bryan ( why I've used them so many times ), they've made custom glass tabletops for me in the past, and my home is in the Chimney Hill subdivision. I'll never use them again. Southern General Contractors came out to find and repair a roof leak. As I had no idea of the shape of the roof I was expecting bad news but it was found that on one area the cap was metal and had rusted through. I really did appreciate that pictures were taken of all the areas on my roof so I could understand what was being said as to the state of the roof and repair work needed.
The good news was the roof was in good shape and the metal cap just needed to be replaced. After talking this over with my husband we decided to have the roof repaired but also the vent work and cement on the chimney top.
On the first clear day the team arrived went quickly to work, got the job done, cleaned up and was off. The leak has been fixed and I am thankful!
The only comment I do have is I would have like to have seen after pictures of the work done too as I will never be up on the roof myself to check it out.
Other than that, great job.

A starting time was not really scheduled, sometime within a week or 2 we were told. First worker came to dig up, cut and cap irrigation lines. A week later more workers came with contractor. He gave instructions and left. They worked on framing out new deck area. At one point I noticed that they were not building the frame according to the dimensions on the design work but none spoke English so I had to call contractor. He called the workers and got it taken care of. Cement was poured. Didn’t see anyone for a week. Workers came to frame off area for outdoor kitchen and to work on pergola and shed. I saw that workers were preparing to install shed door off to the side when design clearly stated it must go in the middle. Still no English speakers so called contractor who raised his voice at me and told me that I was holding them up by changing the design plans but door was moved to proper position. On a Monday, contractor knocked on the door and said they were ready to lay tile and I needed to go out and buy mastic and get spacers right away and that we were holding them up. On following Thursday contractor came and said we needed to choose brick to match so he could purchase next day. (While we were in design phase he was supposed to get us brick samples but we did not receive any.) We ended up with brick that doesn’t quite match. Contractor did apologize the next day for being pushy about the brick. Things progressed quietly until last things to do were to paint hardiplank on shed to match and reroute dryer. I had given contractor paint color swatch, but they just painted white. Contractor decided he couldn’t do dryer work. That was bad for us because dryer was now venting into new shed space and that was unacceptable. With work mostly complete we were ready for final walk around. We had a few details: paint on shed needed to be made to match the house, gutter angle needed to be properly aligned from point it was cut, and shed was filling with water when it rained. It was getting more difficult for me to talk to the contractor as he was very belligerent with me so he was to meet with my husband but he didn’t show up. He came next day unannounced and was angry that my husband couldn’t leave work to be there. I went thru it with him. He did not want to adjust the gutters or fix the paint but in the end he did both (we supplied the paint) and tried sealing shed with caulk. We received final invoice which had an extra $800 on it for the gas line. Gas line was already part of contract price and rerouting of dryer vent was not done so we asked to be considered that we had paid in full. We e-mailed back and forth a few times and then did not hear from him again. We found out later that gfi outlets had not been installed and replaced those ourselves; shed still leaks. We’re mostly happy as the work that was done was done well, but our contractor experience was trying."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/college-station/champion-pool-and-patio-reviews-7516199.htm"},"position":5},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Aguilar Lawn Care","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Gina L."},"reviewBody":"Junior has done good work for me for many years. New system with new duct work is quieter and cools better. Crew left things clean at the end of the work days. Old intake vent was installed incorrectly and they were unsure if they would be able to remove it and replace a new one properly without damaging the surrounding plaster. They did replace it without any damage. All vents were installed cleanly and no ceiling repair work was needed after new vents were installed. They blocked off two vents that were not positioned efficiently (Two additional vents had been installed 15 years ago when I moved in because the living room didn't cool well at all, one vent was closed off then). When the City of College Station came to inspect the job for the rebate, the inspector mentioned they had just implemented a new requirement for locking caps (within the last week) on the coolent lines on the outside. Barker's was not aware of this and had to get some and come back to put them on. Only took a day or two to get the locks and install them. Carbon monoxide detector is also a city requirement. Inspector also pointed out that water was collecting in the pan under the unit in the attic. Water was dripping out the overflow vent in the eaves like it was supposed to. When Barker's came back out, they checked the water pan in the attic and discovered an extra trap was installed which prevented the water from draining properly. They corrected it and the pan has been dry ever since. Locking caps were installed on the coolant lines and they contacted the city inspector to reinspect the coolant lines. Rebates were received within a couple of weeks. The new system has used less electricity this summer than last, even with the heat wave."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/college-station/barker%27s-heating-and-cooling-reviews-2356783.htm"},"position":7},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"A G Plumbing","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Gemma H."},"reviewBody":"I had a capped gas pipe at a rental property that was mangled by a lawn mower and needed to be recapped or removed. Drove 3 miles-car overheated. Called AA immediately. Car cooled, radiator & reserve tank DRY! Anti-freeze added to radiator & reserve tank. Windshield washers were not working either.(had oil change 2 weeks ago, fluids full)Mon. 6/16 My husband & I both spoke to Hank-he was very apologetic. He said he didn t know how car was not checked after fluids drained, but it happens-they would fix it. Bring car back at earliest convenience. We added anti-freeze, car ran FINE for entire week (to/from work-10 miles each way, lunchtime/after work errands for 5 full, very hot days-NO PROBLEMS). Sat. 6/21 We returned car Fri night. Sat morning Kirk called-said fluids had NOT been drained-all were fine. He said he did a pressure test-the radiator gasket had a leak. Had Kirk show me leak. He refunded $10 spent on anti-freeze & handed me estimate -$180.24. Also, we saw windshield washer hose was disconnected (said it had just worn out) but he would fix it. He said, I m not saying that we didn t do a bad job, cause we did but mistakes happen & he d probably make 200 more mistakes this year. He said thermostat had to be removed to install the new part so they would replace it, too. We couldn't afford the repair & didn't think it was needed, it was not leaking-the car ran fine after we filled the radiator, no leak on garage floor. Kirk said, \"We'll take the money out of the deal & fix it.\" This bothered us, but we figured he knew what he was doing. I needed car for work Monday so we picked it up Sat night. On Mon 6/23-Driving to work, car was overheating has NEVER run above normal until tune up . Smell of anti-freeze was choking me-I turned AC off & rolled down windows. Also, a belt was squealing. I got to work-steam was coming from under hood. I looked under the hood and NO LEAK. While driving home, car overheated FOUR times in less that 8 miles. We got it to the shop, left a note call us before starting the vehicle. (Important: car ran perfectly until tune up . Oil is changed regularly and it has never had ANY leaking issues.) Tue 6/24-Kirk called-very agitated. I was VERY calm, polite-begging him to just please fix it. I asked him to not replace the part until he could determine that it was leaking. He said it was NOT AT ALL POSSIBLE that they messed up during tune-up. 15 min. later, shop owner called my husband, yelled at him-they did not mess car up-would not fix it, come get it immediately. If it had to be towed, fine but they were not touching it, he wanted it gone. We bought more anti-freeze, filled the radiator, & took it to dealer. Car was fine. After ten minutes of a service tech looking at it, we all concurred that AA didn't tighten the radiator cap properly, causing the problem. Dealer tech confirmed no leak. Car has been FINE since! Simple mistake like that could have cracked the engine block, thrown a rod, or any number of other things & I would have had no car! They could not admit that they might have done something wrong!"},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/college-station/aggieland-automotive-reviews-458445.htm"},"position":9}]}

FAQs for chimney cap service projects in College Station, TX
Chimney caps may be installed by a few different professionals, including a chimney sweep or a mason that specializes in fireplaces and chimneys. A gas fireplace technician is the best person to install a chimney cap on a gas log fireplace vent to be sure the cap is appropriate for the application.
A chimney cap costs about $300 on average. The prices range from about $75 to $1,000, depending on the material, size, any repairs needed, and if your chimney cap requires custom fabrication. Chimney caps are usually made from galvanized steel, copper, or stainless steel. Additional costs may include hiring a chimney sweep to clean the chimney before a cap is installed.
Help reduce energy bills by helping regulate your home’s temperature
Typically, a chimney cap will last from three to 25 years. This wide range is due to variables like climate, the material the cap is made from, and how often you use your fireplace. Regular inspections and maintenance can help extend the life of your chimney cap.
The best style of chimney cap for a brick chimney is one that fits tightly around the brick top of the chimney. The cap should have a screen to fully enclose it to keep animals out. The best materials include stainless steel, copper, or aluminum that fit tightly or are custom fabricated for a perfect fit on your chimney.
