"Butch called back right away. Came out in a timely fashion. Got one unit working. Then he said the main board was malfunctioning on the downstairs unit and would have to be replaced. It would cost 1200 or 1300. But if we spent a little extra on a service contract he would wave the trip fee and it would be 1100 something. Okay. We did that. It was too late for him to get the board that day so he came out the next day to install the board. But the unit still didn't come on. He said the thermostat was bad and it would we 300 to 500 to replace the thermostat depending on what we wanted. My husband told him we could do that ourselves. Just by pass it and get the unit working. Then he came down and said that the blower motor was out and it would be 1800 to replace the blower motor or 2400 to just replace the whole unit and then we'd be under warranty again. I told them I wanted a second opinion before we did that. I called Ed & Sons they came out, confirmed that we did need a new thermostat. And said they could rebuild the blower motor for around 100$. I ordered two new thermostats for 300 for both of them and my husband installed the thermostats. The work they did was fine. But I felt like they were more of the school of let's just replace parts until it works or we can sell them a new unit. Rather than what can we fix."

"Tech arrived on-time and performed the semi-annual inspection on both heat pumps and all 4 thermostats. They installed the original systems and I have used them ever since. They have been good at spotting potential issues and recommending work BEFORE there was a problem. Always a good job."

"The installation went well. Justin from sales is awesome and took all the inputs and scheduled the installation appropriately. The installation team Doug and JD are excellent. They worked very hard in the hot sun and installed very patiently. Very cooperative, cleared all the questions we have. We had an issue with the drainage of the purifier as it occupied our washer and dryer which prevented our washing machine installation and Costco denied the installation. But upon contacting prostar Doug or JD came and resolved the issue in no time. He installed the washer and dryer as well. Really appreciate the team and their services.."

"Trey and his team were outstanding and made my investment in an Angie's List membership completely worth it.  Communication was great, they correctly diagnosed the issues i was having, and fixed it even thought it was way past standard working hours.  They also answered every question I had and provided me a great education on the inner workings of A/C systems.
I would not hesitate to recommend TKO to anyone due to their fast, professional, and moderately-priced service.  I always assumed any time I'd have a problem with my A/C it would cost an arm and a leg and turn into a huge hassle however this wasn't the case.
A+ and keep up the good work!"

"My car displayed an engine warning type message and the temperature gauge stopped working. I called and spoke with Duke, then took my car to his shop right away. Even though it's a short work week, he was able to get a technician to look at my car and fix the issue on the same day. While no parts were needed, his staff had to take time to check for stored codes, troubleshoot the issue, clean/lubricate parts and put them back on. They were able to get it fixed without having to order parts and the temperature gauge is now working again.
An incredibly nice businessman, Duke told me that it didn't take long and didn't require acquiring any parts, so he didn't charge me for the service. In this day and time I was amazed to hear that......and very appreciative. His shop most definitely has my business from now on - oil changes, preventive maintenance, repairs...... anything! I have already referred him to one friend who is in need of a car repair and also highly recommend his shop to anyone for their automotive needs.

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The best way to compare HVAC quotes is getting a few detailed quotes from local companies with good reputations. Then, go over the quotes line by line. Protect yourself by insisting on in-person estimates that include equipment manufacturer names, model numbers, SEER ratings, amounts and numbers of materials, details of warranties on equipment and labor, and other specifics.

Knowing the exact equipment and materials is the only way that you can fairly compare quotes. Quotes that are much lower than others can be a sign that the company isn’t providing the best quality service or materials.

Propane is more cost-efficient than natural gas on a per-unit basis because it produces twice as much heat energy as an equivalent amount of natural gas. But propane is not ideal if you already have a gas line installed. The best choice for your home depends on the efficiency of your appliances and the amount of installation required of your fuel choice.

Warmed or cooled air can escape your home through drafty windows and doors. If you notice any gaps, be sure to caulk and seal them. You can also hire a local pro for an energy audit to get a list of energy-saving recommendations.

Finally, check your insulation. It can settle in over time and become less effective. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that you can save an average of 15% on heating and cooling costs (or 11% of total energy costs) by sealing leaks and making sure attics, crawl spaces, and basements have a nice layer of insulation.

There are several types of home radiators, and the most common are steam heat radiators, electric radiators, and dual-fuel radiators. Steam heat radiators are connected to a boiler. Electric radiators can operate without being connected to anything else—they just need an electrical outlet. If you have a dual-fuel radiator, you’ll see a valve at the bottom of the system with a wire coming out of it and going into a wall. These are often your towel radiators in the bathroom. The type of radiator you have will impact how you turn it on.

Steam boilers require flushing at least every six to 12 months to keep them operating effectively for as long as possible. Depending on your water quality and frequency of use, you might need to do this more frequently. The flushing process helps to remove problematic buildup of sediments. While a boiler contractor near you can perform a thorough annual flush, learning how to drain the system yourself means you can do this monthly if you experience speedy mineral accumulation because of hard water.
