"Gilberto was extremely responsive, day or night, and very transparent about pricing. Helpful, helped us learn more about our septic situation, and his team was able to quickly install some pieces we needed. Will absolutely go to them again for any other septic needs that arise."

"Wayne was so nice & most patient. He easily spent an hour looking for the tank AFTER being called at the very last min to pump out a septic BEFORE the inspector arrived (the next day). He kept searching, checking with me, sending me pics on the progress of the search. I was offsite & the septic map was at home AND I hadn't lived there for 14 years. My terrible memory had Wayne looking all over the place. BUT he didn't give up. He found the tank, pumped it & THEN filled ALL the holes back in. They are the best!! Thank you Wayne for such a thorough job. I tip my hat to you!! à °à  à  à Â"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

You can add three rotten tomatoes or 1/4 ounce of yeast to your septic tank to speed up the decomposition of sludge. You can add the tomatoes by way of your garbage disposal and the yeast by way of your toilet. You can do either of these additives once every three months as needed.

Septic tanks naturally have bacteria that break down some of the solid waste in the septic tank. However, sludge buildup is just part of owning a septic system. While liquid wastewater can be filtered and treated through the system, a septic tank company has to pump the septic tank out at least every few years.

While homeowners connected to a municipal sewer line still have to keep up with plumbing maintenance, the downside to a septic system is that all the maintenance falls on the homeowners. Not calling in a pro to pump the tank every few years or accidentally flushing or draining the wrong types of materials can quickly cause clogs, which can back up into drains around the home.

Yes, it is possible to pump a septic tank too frequently. The ideal pumping schedule varies based on the tank's capacity, household size, and water usage. Pumping the septic tank more often than recommended can cause the beneficial bacteria to leach into the drain field, leading to an imbalance and a build-up of solid waste.

Septic drain lines (or leach lines) are typically buried between 18 and 36 inches underground, and should be at least 6 inches below the surface. These pipes are perforated and surrounded by filtering materials like sand or gravel. Burying the lines at this depth helps minimize odors and allows bacteria and other biological processes in the soil to effectively treat the wastewater. Burying lines too close to the surface can cause issues unless the soil is very compact and stable.
