We are sure you have seen it - the common tile installation. And while the rough edges and off-center grout lines may have their place among the masses, they certainly have no place with us. That’s because we are, quite simply, obsessed with quality. Since 1997 we have specialized in installing tile and marble floors, including travertine, porcelain and mosaics, as well as custom showers, garden tubs, floor warming systems and backsplashes. Working with interior designers, custom builders and directly with the homeowner, Joe assures outstanding craftsmanship and full installation compliance from start to finish on your project.

"Reviewed a few companies before choosing Green Home installations. They were quick to come out for an initial estimate - pricing was fair - and showed up on time for their appointment to install the fence in one day. Thoroughly cleaned up after the install and delivered a great product. I am extremely happy with my fence, the work provided by their install team and their front office staff. Highly recommend them for your fencing needs."

"We used this company before and liked the results, but this time around the quality was not as high. We were told - after we selected our stone - that there would be a long time between measuring and installing, due to a backup of work on their part, as I understood it. Since theirs was the only place we could find this particular stone, we decided to go ahead. It did mean a long delay in finishing our project. Besides that inconvenience there were several issues. First, they forgot to tell us to order braces for the island overhang -- good thing we figured that out on our own. Also, they would only let us use their custom made, expensive braces that would take several weeks to come in. Again, good thing we figured out to order them early enough. Then there was a delay due to trouble getting one of our sinks, which problem they finally explained to us after someone in their shop implied it was our fault for changing one (small) part of the order. Then the vanity counter was cut wrong, and if we hadn't noticed it we had to wonder if they'd have installed it anyway. No one ever apologized for the error. It was our good fortune that there was similar stone in stock (after we had been told they didn't have any more of this type). And the "white" sink we ordered through KSI was definitely not white, and we were told to go find another sink on our own. Which we did, and surprised them with how fast we got one. Makes us wonder why they, who do this all the time, couldn't do as well. When the installers finally came back with the stone cut correctly, and both sinks correct, there seemed to be a "chill" in the air. They were just not very friendly this time around. To the company's credit when I informed them about how this part of the install went, they responded quickly and were appropriately apologetic, explaining the circumstances which had nothing to do with us. We can understand how everybody can have a bad day, but it put a bad tone over finishing the project. The counters looks nice, but the trouble we went through along the way was frustrating. We may be looking for a different company if we do work like this in the future."

"It was a great experience. Eric was very personable, listening to what I wanted to have done. He started the job promptly the day he scheduled. The tile work in the shower was excellent, especially the consistent spacing between the tiles. He cleaned up the area well after the job. The new bathroom looks great !"

"I called Model Construction and left a message for the owner, Kent, to call me.  That afternoon he promptly called and scheduled a time to come by and submit an estimate.  While I was at work, the day scheduled for the estimate, Kent stopped by and quickly e-mailed an estimate.  After deciding the estimate was fair I e-mailed a response and told Kent to go ahead and schedule the job.  He  gave me a two day window with the dates he would have his crew available to do the job.  He asked for a deposit with an agreement to pay the rest at time of completion.  I asked Kent to meet with me and I would give him the deposit in person.  He had no problem doing that and we met, signed the paperwork and I gave him a check.  I left for work the next day and while I was away Kent had his crew install the new roof.  When I arrived home that afternoon the only evidence that anyone had been there was my new roof.  Very good job matching shingles and cleaning up after the job.  Less than a week later we had major rain showers and there were no signs of any leaks.

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

Removing old tiles can be more complicated, but it can also be more manageable, depending on your circumstances. Typically, old tile is hard to remove because the adhesive had loads of time to bond with your wall, becoming a formidable foe between you and your new tile installation project. On the other hand, old tile in high-traffic areas can become loose, making it much easier to remove.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

A cement backer board is not needed for laying tile on concrete. Sometimes referred to as a cementitious backer unit, or CBU, backer board should be used if the subfloor is plywood or OSB. The backer board provides a base on which to install the tiles that isn’t as likely to be damaged by any accidental water seepage as natural materials would be.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.
