"Brett did an excellent job explaining the process and regularly providing status updates. He completed the process quickly and made sure things were thoroughly cleaned up. He even followed up 2 days later to make sure things were still operating smoothly. Brett is now my go-to contact for all things plumbing."

"Very professional and fast. This was a home warranty call. Toilet was leaking and damaging downstairs ceiling. Called home warranty and they picked draingo. They came in and diagnosed it as a damaged wax ring and replaced it. They were in and out within a matter of 30 minutes. I highly recommend based on this experience.

"Four words that best describe Jackson’s Excavation Service, professionally dedicated to results. Michael is a exceptional owner and operator ol’son! His experience and level of skill truly shows in his work. I hired Michael to fix and prep a level pad for the construction of our new home after a previous company failed to do so. Michael is a straight shooter, someone you can trust, dedicated to making sure that the job is done right, and will go above and beyond to make sure you are completely satisfied. I would highly recommend giving him a call if you are in need of his services."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

Tree experts don’t advise against digging through tree roots, but instead encourage caution and consultation with a local arborist to make sure you don’t damage the tree’s structure or interrupt its water or nutrient intake. An arborist can recommend specific practices when digging and help prune the roots or dig a trench for utilities with a tool that can remove soil without touching the tree’s roots.

A joint utility trench, or joint trench, is a long, buried ditch on a property that contains two or more utility lines rather than running the lines in multiple trenches. Some utilities, like gas and electric or electric and communication lines, are better suited to joint trenching, while others, like water and sewer, are not allowed to be in the same trench.

Yes, an excavation company is the best option for land grading and yard leveling. General landscapers might be able to tackle these projects, but an excavation company will do a better job because they’re used to operating the necessary heavy machinery. Landscapers might opt to do the work manually, which takes much longer and could cost you more in labor fees. Finally, excavation companies will understand local regulations and know when you need permits to legalize the work, while a landscaper might not.

You should dig 3 to 6 inches deep for plastic edging. Dig as wide as you need to fit your plastic edging into it—2 inches is usually sufficient.
