"James was fair, honest and friendly in every step of this process. He explained what needed to be done and his price was very reasonable. My main goal was to obtain high quality, professional work and that's exactly what I got. James made a couple of suggestions that solved some long standing issues. We could not be happier with the results. It's so much better than what we had before! His tile work is not only beautiful but letter straight and even. James obviously values the finer details of the job. I would definitely hire him again for any tile work I might need in the future."

"There is a reason this company has such stellar reviews! Their workmanship is above par. We were extremely happy with the results. Our tub and tiles look brand new. Nice, clean, and shiny! The man who did our tub and tiles, was so nice and worked so hard. He arrived on time and got right to work. This man is an asset to your company and I hope these words are passed on to him. And I called Specialized Refinishing several times and had a question for the owner, Will. Every time I called, he was so nice and patient and answered all my questions. Their prices are extremely reasonable too! Great workmanship, super hard worker, wonderful price and an owner, you can actually call, ask for, and talk to! I highly recommend this company. "What I thought was high quality work turned out to be shoddy in several places. When I discovered there were tiles riding up I contacted the contractor, they came out and replaced and admitted it was shoddy work, Now Floor tiles are riding up in the bedroom and other places in the house. I think they thought the work was done correctly and they did come back out and do some repairs and admitted it was poor installation. They have since fired those people. Its hard for me to not recommend them because of the customer service we got. I am however not considering them for additional work due to the multiple issues we keep having."

"Clifford was very professional. I closed our back door and forgot the keys inside. We were stuck over 3 hours outside our house. I called a locksmith company. This company arrived about an hour later. He worked on trying to get it opened. He drilled, grinded, and everything. Eventually, he forced the door open. It did much damage to the door frame. Clifford has re installed the door frame and it's better than before. I highly recommend Clifford for any projects you may need. He is an incredible guy!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Tiles last for around 100 years or more. Tiles on backsplashes can last even longer since they’re less likely to crack under foot traffic or from accidental drops, but even tile in high-traffic flooring can last a century or more with proper installation and upkeep. Porcelain tiles are denser and stronger than standard ceramic tiles, so they’ll last longer, often pushing past the 100-year mark.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

The choice of whether to tile or use an acrylic tub surround is up to you and can be based on a number of factors, including aesthetics, cost, waterproofing, ease of cleaning, and maintenance.

Tile is a beautiful, classic bathtub surround choice; while tile installation cost is higher, it’s customizable and offers visual appeal. Tile is also harder to clean and presents waterproofing problems because of grout lines. Acrylic surrounds can be more affordable, don’t require much maintenance, and are easier to clean. However, they aren’t usually as visually appealing and may need to be replaced if they become damaged.

There are a few different tools you can use to score tiles. Manual tile cutters or tile scribes work well for scoring in straight lines. Tile nippers are one of the best options for scoring because they can make small and irregular cuts that larger tools may not be able to handle.
