I hired them to do leaf removal but I asked them to do a few other small jobs, like cutting down some bushes that were overgrown and they had no problem doing that. When I asked them why they did not weed a whole section, they said Virginia Creeper is not a weed and refused to complete the job-- don't I get to decide? And their billing was atrocious (always incorrect and needing revisions-- then complaining payment was 'late')"

"Very expensive and beware that they jack up the invoice to include a 3.74% "convenience fee" (which they can't even spell): "Convience fee (3.74%) $16.66" ...and with no warning or courtesy reminder they charge: "Late Fee 10% late fee for over 30 days dues. Additional late fees may accrue if not paid in full. $40.50" And be further aware that if you live in a nice house, Tim will use it to make personal attacks when you question any bill he sends---and most likely jack up the price. And his employee Joe is also a piece of work. When my wife asked for his cell number his response was "No, I don't want to be bothered by clients." And after paying several hundreds of dollars, our grass still has several dry spots. And they don't know how to set the irrigation timer accurately."

"Turf Titans were great to work with. They were able to get out within a few days of my first call and did an excellent job with the mowing, edging and weed whacking. Our lawn had grown unusually tall due to family travel (we let it get away from us!). After their initial pass through with a riding mower, I noticed large amounts of grass clippings that would have damaged the grass underneath. This wouldn't have happened had we not let our lawn grow out of control; but, life happens. Rachel was happy and willing to correct the problem from OUR neglect and went back over the yard a second time with a smaller mower to bag the clippings. They were very helpful, knowledgeable and responsive."

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth. 

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.

The fastest way to remove a tree stump is by burning it or grinding it. You can rent a stump grinder and do the job yourself or hire a local arborist or landscape specialist. Before burning a stump yourself, be sure to check local burn laws. Drill holes in the stump, fill them with vegetable oil, and wait 24 to 48 hours. Add charcoal bricks to the surface, then light the fire. Attend the fire at all times.

Unless it’s dead or dangerous, think twice about cutting down a tree in your yard. They’re good for health, well-being, wildlife, and the environment. Plus, local authorities often have regulations prohibiting the removal of trees, especially protected species or individual trees with historical value.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but we don’t recommend it. If the tree is short enough to easily reach the top branches, and the tree is far from power lines or structures, consider renting a chainsaw and removing it yourself. Trees that are larger than that, close to electrical lines, or close to fences, homes, sheds, or other structures should only ever be removed by professionals. Not only is the work dangerous, but you could damage structures on your property in the process.
