"Waking up to your water heater having died is a horrible experience on a Sunday morning. But having Paul and his son come change out my water heater the same day was a absolutely a great experience. Having a contractor show up on time and do exactly what they say they're going to do is unheard of in my experience. I contacted several other plumbers in the area they either couldn't come until later in the week or were way too expensive. I highly recommend Plumb ER should you experience a major plumbing issue."

"The plumber, Chris, was very conscientious, extremely quiet, completed the work with the utmost efficiency and attention to detail. The old hot water heater was removed, and, with much concern, wrapped in a waterproof blanket to avoid dripping as it was brought down the stairs and then placed in the truck. (Throughout the neighborhood, other plumbing contractors have left the old tanks junked on the curb, where they sit there for days until the county trucks come by the next week.) Following the installation, he even vacuumed the entire hallway, entryway, and all the stairs. Pink Plumbing is the best service and attention to the home. C.A. Dumond"

"We had Andrew with High Tide come out and do an extensive list of plumbing related issues and updates to our home. I couldn't be happier with his extent of knowledge about plumbing and how professional he was. Highly recommend!"

"Exceptional product. High quality installation by Josh and team in the Summerville, SC area. And they cleaned up the space as if never here. Amazing. Wife loves it. County inspector came by to look at plumbing work. Nice. Most difficult part was choosing from selection of colors and styles of products. Can't wait to use new shower. Must wait 24 hours"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Sewer ejector pumps need to be cleaned at least once a year by a professional. You shouldn’t attempt to clean it yourself because it can release sewer gasses that are toxic to humans and can be fatal. But to keep the system as clean as possible between professional inspection and cleaning services, be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid flushing items that can clog the system, like paper towels, grease, oil, or menstruation products.

Yes, short hair can clog a drain. While you might be tempted to blame the long-haired people living with you for a clogged drain, hair—no matter the length—can combine with soap scum and leftover shampoo to create a perfect storm of sticky mess that can cause your drain to slow down.

While flooding is always cause for alarm, certain situations are considered more urgent than others. If there is water pooling anywhere in your basement, it’s time to call a local emergency plumber ASAP. Standing water in your basement could be from a plumbing leak or from cracks in your foundation—either situation can go from minor to major very quickly. On average, the cost to hire an emergency plumber ranges from $100 and $500, depending on the scope of the repair and when you call them—calling an emergency plumber on the weekend or on a holiday will cause the rate to jump.

A water pressure regulator, also known as a pressure-reducing valve (PRV), is typically located near the main water shut-off valve where the main water line enters your home. Common places to check are basements, utility areas, or outside near the water meter. The device is usually bell-shaped. Its purpose is to control the water pressure coming into your home from the public supply, protecting your pipes, plumbing fixtures, and appliances. If you can't find a regulator, your home might not have one. In cases of high water pressure, installing a PRV is recommended.

Homeowners insurance usually doesn’t cover sewer backups because it’s typically an avoidable problem with proper maintenance. The only exception would be if the backup is occurring because of local flooding and only if your city uses a combined drainage system for stormwater and sewage. If that’s the case, your policy should cover any resulting damage.
