"Have used Garth for several home projects and will continue to in the future. Garth installed an outside outlet and knocked out the repair the same day as he qouted it. His prices are always fair and the work is top notch!"

"Houston & Barnes Home Solutions delivered an outstanding experience. Cody and Gabe were fantastic from the moment they arrived. They installed multiple ceiling fans, a Ring floodlight, and a Ring camera on the opposite side of the house — all completed with skill and care. What really stood out was how courteous, respectful, and easy to work with they were. They treated my home with care, listened closely to what I needed, and made sure everything was done exactly the way I wanted. Their knowledge showed in every step, and they kept a pleasant, positive attitude the entire time. They arrived promptly, and even when one item came up that wasn’t included in the original quote, they handled it smoothly and kept the pricing very fair. The quality of their work was excellent, and the value was even better. I’m extremely satisfied and would gladly recommend Houston & Barnes Home Solutions to anyone needing dependable home services."

"TV was installed w/out hitch. The Harmony Remote controls both TV & TIVO proved to be more of a challenge. After a couple remote attempts, Alan stopped by, worked a little magic & TV/Harmony Remote are in sync. I am pleased w/work."

"It went good. I was searching for a while for someone to do this work for me when I was referred to Mr.Hill. He came through and got the job done in a nice amount of time. He didn't do a rush job and was very professional the whole job. It started off as him just doing me a deck, then I hired him to come back and remodel my bathroom. I love his work ethic and the energy he brings to work. My bathroom itself looks amazing and as well as my deck."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

There are many signs of a bad AC fan motor, including if the fan blades don’t spin when the AC kicks on or if they keep spinning when the AC is off. The AC fan cools down the condenser coil, so a faulty motor can also cause the system to overheat. Unusual noises in the exterior AC unit, including grinding or rattling sounds, may also be a sign that the AC fan motor is worn out.

Yes, you can oil an electric fan with machine or motor oil but don’t use cooking oil because it can become thick or seize up, damaging the fan. Before oiling your fan, turn it off and remove any dust and debris. Wipe away any excess lubricant after oiling.

Yes, you can run an attic fan with the AC on. In fact, you don’t have a choice with a passive attic fan. Plus, when an attic fan draws out hot air from the attic, it helps regulate the temperature of your whole home, so your AC doesn't have to work as hard.

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

A ceiling fan can become unbalanced for several reasons. Common causes include an accumulation of dust and dirt on the blades, which adds uneven weight. Over time, hardware like screws and fasteners can loosen due to wear on the blade holders. Other potential issues are damaged or bent blades or blade arms, worn-down parts, or an incorrect initial installation.
