"Poor communication around the amount of dust that the installation would leave or that we would need to remove any belongings from the attic or most importantly the adjoining closet where my wife stored her wedding dress. The install crew was also careless, leaving very noticeable scratches and dings on window and door frames. Management promised to address these repairs and dry clean the wedding dress but gave us the run around for months without addressing any of the issues caused by their crew. What’s arguably worse is we haven’t seen anything close to the amount of savings on energy bills that was promised in our first summer with our new insulation."

Random people would show up at unannounced times. The few things that an actual Guardian employee did were they made a huge mess of our newly remodeled office and were rude to our staff. We have offices in five markets across the US and have high security at each; we have never had such a poor experience."

We made some minor changes to their standard contract and they accepted those changes without question. There are many reasons one bedroom may be hotter than the rest of the house. The sun will quickly heat a south-facing bedroom with a large window, especially if it lacks quality curtains. If the room has poor insulation, this could let more warm outside air in. Upstairs bedrooms are often hotter than ground-floor rooms because heat rises. Finally, rooms further away from the air conditioning unit may heat up a lot if the system is not properly balanced.

You don’t need to remove old insulation before adding new insulation. As long as the old insulation is still in good shape—not wet, physically damaged, or moldy—then you can stack new insulation on top of old insulation to get a compounding effect. You can also mix different types of insulation, like adding blown-in insulation around existing fiberglass batt insulation or installing rigid insulation boards over rafters in your attic that already have batt insulation installed. If there are pipes that require a wrap, your installer should have done it for you already.
