"My undermount kitchen sink fell in on itself and I was not finding any contractor that would touch and undermount sink. Juan was more than willing and capable. It was a difficult task due to I wanted to replace the sink with a single bowl going from a dual bowl. The new sink was a challenge due to it being it slightly larger and deeper. The cabinet also was challenge, due it being a little small for the new sink as well, so he had to modify it, but it when he put it back together, it was like it never happened. He was able to remove the old sink, install the new sink, and update the plumbing for the single bowl as well. I could not be happier!"

"We're thrilled with the work done on our two bathroom updates! The contractor, Noah and his team were professional, reliable, and did excellent work from start to finish. They stayed on schedule, kept the work areas clean, and the quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding. Both bathrooms look beautiful and function perfectly. We wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for future projects. Highly recommend!again for future projects. Highly recommend!"

"Did a great job putting a new roof on our home. We had a small leak and felt very confident with Rain Tight from the first interaction with Jason. His knowledge and assessment of the leak along with realistic options made our decision easy. Another roofer said he would repair a section at a fraction of the cost to re-roof but neglected to take into account some of the other issues with the 17 year old roof, all of which Jason pointed out and documented with pictures. The re-roof job was done well and looks great. Highly recommend Rain Tight."

"I found Hayner of Rocco Angie’s List last year when I had issues with my first contractor on this project. Hayner came and got be back on track and on schedule. He also treats his projects as his works of art and always keeps an eye on the big picture to ensure it will look good. If you have your own clear vision, be firm. If not you can rely on Hayner’s eye for design . Hayner was a refreshing honest and patient find from right here at Angie’s list. I became ill towards the end of our project last year and have spent the last 10 months in and out of surgery. Hayner continued to follow up with me and made sure to come back and complete the punch list items once I was available. He is my go to person for all things related to my condo."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.

Yes, you can find ceiling joists using simple tools if a stud finder isn't available.

Using a hammer requires patience and a keen ear. Gently tap the ceiling in a grid pattern, listening for sound changes. A hollow sound indicates space between joists, while a solid, dull thud suggests a joist. Mark the location with a pencil and confirm by tapping from different angles.

Alternatively, you can use a nail, but this method will leave small holes. You'll feel increased resistance when the nail hits a joist. Mark the spot and repeat the process every 16 or 24 inches to map the joist locations. This method is considered less reliable than using a stud finder.

Professionals charge between $60 and $95 per hour to install ornamental porch columns. The amount of time they need varies based on the condition of the porch, whether they need to remove old columns, and if there is any damage to your porch's structure. This cost can increase if more issues come up during the installation process.

Balcony construction or replacement typically requires a building permit from your local permitting authority. Safety and building integrity are the main reasons for the need to obtain a permit and the subsequent inspections. In some cases, especially cantilevered balconies, your municipality may also require the oversight and signature of a structural engineer.
