"Jason Holland, owner of Rain Tight Roofing is a credit to his profession. He is extremely thorough and professional and he shares his knowledge with his customers. We had an odd roof configuration on our house. Rather than just offer a quote to reroof our home like every other contractor, Jason offered a creative solution and had quality carpenters capable of completing the modification. We ended up with a new front roof elevation and new roof with any rotted wood identified and replaced. If you need a roof repaired or replaced, go ahead and get quotes. But be sure to include Rain Tight as I’m confident Jason will be competitive. Most importantly, you will be hiring a professional who truly cares about his customers, his roofing team and the product he delivers."

"One of the best contractors I ever worked with. Always on time, and available to take your call. Great job, great crew, the job was completed on time, quickly and looks great. I also feel it was all done at a very fair price and he is an NCCER certified completer in construction and is nationally known is the industry by NCCER. If I would have to work with him again, I would not hesitate."

"Amazing! I don’t have ANY complaints! Hayner and his crew are the true definition of professional. They painted the outside of my house (from a pale yellow to a beautiful blue) and a job well done is an understatement. Anyone that walks by my house compliments the transformation. They not only completed on time, they came back a few times after completion to handle any concern I addressed, I’m a bit OCD. Again, Hayner and his team did A+ work. Will hire them again for future jobs & refer them to anyone who asks for a general contractor. Thank you Hayner & co!"

"Falcons Building Group is the very BEST Professionals! Angelo has so much experience as a real Commercial Contractor and I was so fortunate that he took such passion to make everything Beautiful. His partner Carolyn spent countless hours taking me to select the tile and fixtures and lighting and anything that was needed. Angelo would give me advice and I truly Trusted it was the right decision. And the renovation is beyond my high expectations! I recommend them to anyone looking to create lasting memories. Quality and Business Integrity is what comes to mind when writing this review."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Framing with metal studs can be significantly faster than using wooden studs, provided you have some experience working with the material. While you can use virtually instant pneumatic nailers with wood, metal requires installing screws. However, because metal is lighter, straighter, usually comes cut-to-length, and doesn't require sorting for the best pieces, you can save significant time using metal instead of wood.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

You may need a permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-ins added to homes. Check with your carpenter or, if you're DIY-ing, do some research on your city's requirements.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.
