"Order arrived quickly - all in good condition. Have been using them for quite a while now. I love that the pieces lock together magnetically - so no sliding around. You can choose your colors: top and bottom. You do the measuring - they have instructions on how to do that - and it is very simple. Their order department was very accommodating when I called. Would definitely order from them."

"It is a waste of money. The great majority of people are not going to find any value out of the service. If you need design consultation, you need a full service consultation. If you already have knowledge and experience, and you just need to get a few ideas, then you don't need to pay for that. You can just get a magazine or a book since you already have the knowledge of basic designs in your head or a little bit of experience. To have someone call you and give you information over the phone, you are not getting the personal service that you need. You may as well take the money $49 and apply it to something else like getting someone else to come out and give you the service that you need. Because, you are not getting much, you are not getting anything at all. They are going to have you do the work. After talking to them and I was talking to other home designers, I found out that that was a waste of time and waste of money. I gave them a C because they didn't fail at what they do but they don't offer any value for what they do. There's not much value to it. The cost was fair. They didn't do a terrible job and the cost isn't terrible, it was only $49. It just has a very low value. For responsiveness I gave them a B because they will answer your phone and answer your emails."

"Working with Emily made me wonder why I put off decorating our guest room for so long!!! She made such a warm and inviting space for our guests to stay. The space is super relaxing which is great because when you're visiting me, you're visiting my 3 kids, 3 and under. One of my favorite parts is she was able to give me pieces to buy in my price range (ya know Target). This became such a fun project that I had been seriously dreading! Thanks Emily!!!"

"I lucked out when I found Connie Glover of CG Staging & Interior Designs. Connie came to my house the next day. As she walked through, she stayed a few minutes in each room, telling me specific suggestions of what she would like to do for each room. She told me easy ways to make the home lighter and appealing to a large cross section of potential buyers. Connie was immediately inspired by my Victorian renovation, had great ideas for it, already had available a lot of what we would need, checked her thoughts with me, and was engaging and friendly. I knew we would work great together, so I cancelled my other interviews and hired Connie right then. Connie got my staging completed in our planned 2 week time frame. She stays in communication. She followed through on all requests from my realtor. She doesn't run up a big bill when she can find a bargain. I paid a deposit and some materials up front, and it sure worked for me that her actual fee gets paid at the closing when the property is sold. My home looks extra beautiful, and should sell higher and faster, thanks to all Connie's artistry, care, detail, and enthusiasm in staging. Two thumbs up for CG Staging & Interior Designs!!"

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

A hearth often looks like a tile or brick floor that juts out from and surrounds your fireplace. A hearth can be made of stone, brick, ceramic, or any other fireproof material. Brick offers a classic and traditional vibe, whereas a hearth made of marble or ceramic may lean more toward modern aesthetics. The most common depth of a hearth is 20 inches.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to help optimize and maximize space, functionality, and usage. It is recommended to confirm the availability of this service with your specific installer or contractor.

Balancing aesthetics with functionality amidst space planning is important. To do so, you could consider consulting both an interior designer and an architect to fulfill both these needs. Or you can tackle it on your own by prioritizing personal touches amidst space planning that add to the look but don't take away from the livability of the space.

Before hiring an interior designer, ask a few questions to better understand how they work, what’s expected of you, and what they promise to deliver.

  • How long will the project take to complete?

  • What type of services do you offer?

  • Can you provide a project estimate?

  • Do you work with subcontractors?

  • Are you licensed or certified in this state?

  • Do you have a portfolio of previous work I can review?

  • May I contact your customer references?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • How do you handle payment?

Whether you should mix cabinet pulls and knobs comes down to personal preference and the space you're decorating. Choosing matching cabinet hardware creates a more cohesive look, but it's not as distinct and eye-catching as a mix-and-match design. Smaller spaces benefit most from matching hardware since too many styles can visually crowd or overwhelm a small room.
