"Very dedicated and determined work ethic to provide timely and quality results. They did such a good job, the neighbor hired them for their hardscape "mulch" and custom concrete border as well. I would highly recommend them."

"Be prepared that while it is not inexpensive, the job is completed correctly and looks like it will hold up. They had to dig out the old and replaced with much deeper hole and this one has a lining. This is a 2 level water fall and stone looks great with color of house and surrounding area. This was all completed by hand no machine digging as there was not space. Thank you, Garden of Eva."

"Trey and his help did a great job on grading our swell which has been a problem ever since we moved in. It handled the recent storms very well and I am confident if we need any follow up with them they will fix it. Great work ethic."

"I usually don't do reviews, but I had to make an exception with this company. We've used Elite Costal Landscaping, LLC for three different backyard projects and my wife and I are VERY satisfied with their work! I know that there are other companies out there, but what I believe that separates Elite Costal Landscaping, LLC from the others is their quality of work and their communication with customers from start to finish, which is very much appreciated and their prices are reasonable and fair. We will definitely use them again for any other landscaping projects needed at our property and have also referred them to neighbors who have complimented us on the projects."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The rules and regulations regarding groundwater use vary between states. To find out if you can dig a well on your property, you’ll have to consult these regulations, address any compliance requirements, and get the appropriate permits. It’s also important to check that your intended location has the right geology and water table to support a well.

Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.

Depending on the severity of the freeze and the method used, thawing frozen underground pipes can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. Applying heat directly to the pipe using heat tape, infrared lamps, or hot water jetting can speed up the process. However, patience and careful monitoring are key to avoiding pipe damage.

You do not have to dig footers for a deck as long as it meets local code and holds up to weather in your area. If you live somewhere that experiences high winds and earthquakes, you may need to dig for your deck posts. Deck blocks, post anchors with base plates, and helical pile systems are the three no-dig deck post options you can choose from if local code permits.

Whether you grind or dig up and remove your tree stump depends on your landscaping goals. Using a stump grinder leaves the root system in place for it to decompose over time, whereas digging up the tree stump removes the roots and the stump. Overall, stump grinding is a far simpler process since you won’t need to deal with the roots. Stump removal will make your yard look like a demolition site, but you’ll have an easier time replanting in the same place as your former tree.
