Small business looking to help you put your taste in your home. I have a passion for doing any and all types of remodeling. I was introduced to this business when I was ten years old by my father and have loved doing this work ever since. I even have a degree from USC in psychology and still choose my true passion of construction. I am very knowledgable in most if not all fields of the construction world. My estimates are free and I would love to come take a look at whatever one may need done in their home.

"Don't call stanley steamer especially in the columbia sc area. The guy that came to our house created a lot of work for me removing all the water from my carpet. I should not be able to pull up more than 2 cups of liquid from 1/2 of a room. I could have sprayed my floors with a waterhose myself. I had to move my own furniture he was just cleaning around it even my end table, coffee table and dining room chairs before he finally got the hint. He could have probably done a better job if he could put his phone down, and he would not have been banging the cleaner head repeated into my furniture legs. Called the same day to report this person but that fell on deaf ears. They do not refund money. 2 days later, after I had dried the floors with my own shampooer they offered to have someone come out to reclean. We have used this company for years but never again. I will stick with someone who respects my property and stands behind their work. Congratulations Stanley Steemer, you got me. Shame on you! Looks like I'm not the only one with issues with this company. Check out social media. No wonder they don't stand behind their services, they would be broke. Bet they don't have a lot of repeat business since this location is no longer a locally owned franchise but corp owned."

After 3 months of constant follow up they covered part of the parts charge and none of the labor. Then, following up again, they responded with, WE ARE CLOSING THE BUSINESS."

"Columbia Electric referred Finishing Touch to me. The electrician accidentally slipped on a joist in the attic and put his knee through the ceiling on a Monday. It was not until the following Wednesday Finishing Touch was able to get a gentleman out to make the repair. Once I was on the schedule, he was right on time (both times). Although he patched it, he did not patch it far enough and a hairline crack still runs in the ceiling (see picture). I also had to request he mud over the whole patch as it left a dip when a straight edge was placed next to it. The one gentleman said that you usually have dips in patches. Frankly, you don't when you know what you are doing. While he was here I arranged with the owner, Russ, to do some sanding and mudding on the walls, which I had already begun (I wanted to save myself some time on the bathroom renovation). I had to request his return because he failed to sand some areas and never mudded others that he had sanded. He did not dispose of the waste from the patch repair, but laid the broken pieces of drywall on the carpeted floor at the top of the steps in a pile (about a buckets worth). Granted, there were some unused parts of drywall sheets, but I found this unprofessional. He used a drop cloth, but after sanding he also failed to vacuum/sweep the dust from sanding and left it for me to clean. Overall, I feel I was an inconvenience for Finishing Touch and they were forced into this job due to their relationship with my electrician, and the effort to get me out of the way greatly impacted the quality of their work. In fact, the second time they were here I was not aware they had left (I was on the back porch). I heard their vehicles start and they were gone."

The cost of flooring installation is $3,000 for the average homeowner. This cost can range from $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the project size, flooring material, and any special features. For example, if stairs need new flooring, you can expect to pay about $11 to $160 per step. Additionally, hardwood flooring costs significantly more than linoleum, with hardwood ranging from $6 to $22 per square foot and linoleum costing $3 to $7 per square foot.
Believe it or not, adding new flooring—especially floors like hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl—can add significant value to your home. If you update your flooring close to when you sell your home, you can see up to a 70% ROI on your new floors. Adding new flooring to your home is one of the quickest ways to make the whole room look refreshed and new, which is a positive point for selling.
While you certainly can install new flooring yourself, it may not always be the best idea. Since the condition of the floors is a significant component of your property’s value, it’s important that your project looks professionally done. If not, you run the risk of needing to have them replaced again before selling your home. If you’re looking to save money on the cost of floor installation, consider removing the old flooring yourself to save on labor costs.
When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.
Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
It takes about one to three days for a two-person crew to lay 800 to 1,000 square feet of flooring daily. Remember that removal of existing flooring and additional prep work is considered during this time, and it’s likely that you won’t be able to pass through the room easily. In addition, you can expect lots of hammering and other noise from power tools during installation, so it’s best to plan accordingly.
