"I would never use them again. Left our job for 2 hours, said to help at another nearby location. Said would have more help when return, which did not happen. When they returned they had a washer and dryer in our load. Price was on going negation. Talked with supervisor day before and he had no customer skills. Things left behind. Never use again. Terrible."

"At first it looked great; within a couple of years about a third of the Fiberon railing fittings were cracking, and this was a big job with a lot of fittings. I contacted Fiberon and sent pictures, but they claimed the work was not done according to their instructions and that was the problem. They denied my claim, even though the few small support pieces they called for could not have had any effect on the cracking. After consulting with many others, including a licensed structural engineer, the most likely picture came out. The cracks in the fittings were caused by warping of some of the posts, shifting of other posts relative to the deck joists, and poor product quality of Fiberon's decking. Jody Adams has agreed to replace all of the cracked fittings and one post which became too short due to post warping, and I will do the replacement myself. With this and remembering the excellent work he did on my major basement buildout (2500 sf), I'm changing the rating to B."

LJ Flooring is a new 3000 square feet floor covering store located in Concord, NC. We have been in the flooring industry for over 15 years and are proud to now have a retail store front that our customers can visit to see the flooring materials we carry and install. Our certified installers are at your service and ready to professionally install beautiful floors in your home and business.

"I contracted with LJ flooring Incorporated to install 900 square feet of luxury vinyl plank flooring. They started the job and then abruptly quit. When I spoke to the owner I was told that he was having problems with the material. I advised him that I believe Mohawk is an industry leader when it comes to this product. I asked him if his installer read the install instructions or if he was told how to install it. The answer to that is “NO”. Come to find out the reason it was a no answer was the installer cannot read English or speak English. When we went to look at what was installed we found the problem was with how it was being installed. A luxury vinyl plank floor needs to be installed in a specific manner so that it creates a watertight system. LJ flooring method of install was with a hammer and beating it into place. When I questioned the owner about this he said that's the way it's done. I advised him I think the manufacturer would have a better idea and a better understanding on how best to install their product. The product that was installed is no longer usable and will require replacement. Be careful when using this company. He will steer you in a direction of using his inferior products that he has marked up. When it comes to any new flooring product the install makes the difference. If it's not installed correctly it will fail and the manufacturer will not honor any warranty. If the installer can't read or speak language there's no guarantee their ability to ascertain the proper methods and procedures will be followed and you will have a poor job."

Flooring services FAQs

The cost of flooring installation is $3,000 for the average homeowner. This cost can range from $1,500 to $4,500, depending on the project size, flooring material, and any special features. For example, if stairs need new flooring, you can expect to pay about $11 to $160 per step. Additionally, hardwood flooring costs significantly more than linoleum, with hardwood ranging from $6 to $22 per square foot and linoleum costing $3 to $7 per square foot.

Believe it or not, adding new flooring—especially floors like hardwood, laminate, tile, or vinyl—can add significant value to your home. If you update your flooring close to when you sell your home, you can see up to a 70% ROI on your new floors. Adding new flooring to your home is one of the quickest ways to make the whole room look refreshed and new, which is a positive point for selling.

While you certainly can install new flooring yourself, it may not always be the best idea. Since the condition of the floors is a significant component of your property’s value, it’s important that your project looks professionally done. If not, you run the risk of needing to have them replaced again before selling your home. If you’re looking to save money on the cost of floor installation, consider removing the old flooring yourself to save on labor costs.

When it comes to flooring installers, licensing laws vary from state to state. Even if your state doesn’t require your flooring installer to have a license, your municipality or city might, so it’s a good idea to check with your town before getting started. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines.

Hiring an unlicensed flooring installer could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

It takes about one to three days for a two-person crew to lay 800 to 1,000 square feet of flooring daily. Remember that removal of existing flooring and additional prep work is considered during this time, and it’s likely that you won’t be able to pass through the room easily. In addition, you can expect lots of hammering and other noise from power tools during installation, so it’s best to plan accordingly.
